Aww who's that lol
Ozark Opportunities, Inc. welcomes a new Family Development Worker, Julie Smith, to our team! We asked her to share a little information about herself.
Who is ...Julie Smith? That’s a great question and everyone knows it can be a challenge when asked to share who you are but, first I want to express my gratitude to Ozark Opportunities and the staff for this incredible career opportunity that has been entrusted to me “Thank you”. Now I would like to share lots of things about me but I don’t want to bore everyone so I have tried to cut this short and sweet but hope that you will feel you know me a little better than you did. My family and I are all natives of Northwest Arkansas where I achieved my Associates of Arts degree and have the goal of becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I was formally a postmaster with the United States Postal Service in Northwest Arkansas and as the new hire for the Family Development program. I would like to consider myself to be dependable, a self starter, hardworking, honest and organized. Also my past times have and do include spending time as a community volunteer right here in Northwest Arkansas with several nonprofit Organizations. Maybe most people think I am crazy to put so much time into others but, in my opinion the more we get involved in helping and lifting up others the more addicted to the passion of the results which leaves us wanting to give more of our self’s. In my experiences as an outreach volunteer I always try to remember the longer our families, friends, and neighbors troubles goes unnoticed, unheard or unassisted the more sufferings and hardships people will have in their hearts. So I am pleased to know that Ozark Opportunities is designed to help guide people in poverty out of poverty. I think my past experiences, professional and personal have given me the capability to advocate for others and to handle many different situations with thoughtfulness and maturity. I hope as your fellow team member that your experiences with me will be pleasant, helpful and to know that you can trust in my work. I want to leave this letter on a positive note and know that I will work my hardest to achieve my highest ability for Ozark Opportunities and the surrounding communities. Thank you in advance for the team effort in my journey.
Sincerely,
Julie Smith

Oh what a day...

Mackenzie is applying for a nursing program through the college...She had an interview yesterday...She looked beautiful..

It looks like spring to me...tree by the house,,
A fairly cleaned up burn spot...
Look closely and you can see some yellow starting to bloom..

Shadow puppets because it is sunny and I can
 A little blue bloom..
Amanda is home today...I had to pick her up from school early yesterday...No fever but she is sleeping a lot...She will go back to Doc again today..

I feel better today than yesterday...Just a little under the weather...I have drank my pot of coffee. I guess I need to spiff up the house. It is not bad but with 4 kids there is always something where it should not be. No laundry today..wow.

Darrel is wanting more yard work done. I guess I could do that. It seems so pointless since It is so hard to get rid of all I rake up. I hook this rake thing behind the lawn mower to do the wide open places. With so many trees we have thousands if small limbs..The size of your finger and to to 2 foot long.. Then down to the size of a twig...So after I rake this stuff up I try to burn it...but a lot of it is wet so it smokes a lot....I have to be careful or the neighbors will call the fire dept.

I am anxious to get back home and do a little clean up there...A few things I have planned..

So on to another day... I spoke to Benjamin last night and he said he would be OK with me just staying at his house a week... I need to book a flight...

The Turkey war

Once upon a time my father and two of my brothers worked for a man who grew turkeys. They like this job because it gave them the freedom to be in the great out doors and they were not constantly under some boss's thumb. One August it became necessary to move a flock of turkeys to another farm. The tempture in the day light hours was about 110 degrees. The plan was formed that they would move the birds starting 12 o'clock at night so as to spare the turkeys the heat as much as they could. They had several drivers and each truck pulled a trailer that contained about 200 turkeys. The last load was in the trailer and a young man named Tim pulled his load on the road followed by my brother who had a load of dead turkeys that would have to be disposed off. All the loads passed our small town. Our town is built on a Square Or small park with the store fronts across the street in a square also. State high way 62 passes by the square. It was necessary to get the turkeys to their new home as soon as possible or they would die from the heat.Tim is going passed the square a tad over the speed limit after all it is 2 in morning and our town is a one horse town . Tim thought the horse was asleep. The local cop throwed his light on Tim and pulled him over.My brother who is hauling the dead turkeys pulls over also. brother explains about turkeys and heat and the need for haste. The cop is having none of it and declares that he is going to take the drivers to jail.Clayton decides it time to call in the boss. He calls and wakes Billy Bob and explains the sistuation. Soon Billy Bob arrives and things go from bad to worse. Billy bob is standing in the street crying, curseing and more or less losing control.Never one to let things cool down my brother has told Billy bob that all the turkeys in his trailer have died while the Officer is holding them on the road! Also if Tim is not allowed to continue his trip all his turkeys will die also. Billy Bob calls the Mayor out to the scene. So here we have the mayor, the cop, Billy Bob, Two loads of turkeys one load dead and one load of very hot turkeys. The mayor is trying to find a way out of this problem. My brother ask Billy Bob what do you want me to do? Billy Bob says pull that dead load over to the square and unload on the grass.Brother starts to do that very thing. The Mayor runs over to Clayton shouting Stop! Soon it will be daylight and the town will open for business with a pile of stinking dead turkeys at their door.Brother says Billy Bob is the boss, if he says unload,I will unload. Plop another turkey hit the green . Mayor decides that it is best if the Turkeys and the workers continue on their journey and Billy Bob and he can decide what to do after the load is gone. Brother loads up the dead birds and they make their escape. How this war was settled we never knew but we suspect that the town bought a load of dead turkeys that hot August morning.

I Think...

Spring has sprung in WA...they did not have much of a winter up here this year...But then again I did tell Clayton I was going to have a light winter....And boy I have...

I get up every morning and pull up Sisters Blogs but it is just not as good as it was when Patsy posted....Not talking about her posts on the last...I am talking about the ones where she had been reading news on the computer or dreaming of baby chicks...Or planting 100 tomato seeds so she could furnish all of Carroll County..

Fiery Fleta, as betty has her tagged is still under snow I guess so she is not too Fiery...except spitting fire because she is so tired of cold weather..She has had to water my horse with a bucket...I do feel bad she had to do that....I will have an Ax by next year and I will try to stay home next winter....Well Maybe..

So today, I have a little bit of laundry...But not much...

Amanda had her first swim lesson last night. She did excellent,.She was so excited..

When I get back home I am going to bust the old cement off the house on the chicken wire..Only in the places it id loose or bulging out...tack the chicken wire back down and re cement over the bad places... Behind the house...close to the bathroom window....it is bulging because wasps have a BIG nest under it...I hated it last year...Kris said I should go to Home Depo and buy 5 gallons of paint and start to paint a little at a time. Now this does seem like a good idea but cleaning up brushes and rollers each time is a mess.. Really it would not cost that much.. But then again I am sort of lazy.

I also need to figure out how to get rid of all of the wasps...By August last year they had all ready taken over...They were everywhere...This year I am hoping to knock down the nests as soon as they go up... Betty...ask Larry how to kill and run them off...He will know...then post it.They make nests under the eves...and they crawl up in the attic. Maybe just a 3 gallon sprayer with bug spray...and shoot them down as soon as they come up.. Larry will know. Find out for me pls..

Remember we all 3...You know Three Sisters....I get to be included now..We THREE SISTERS are going to tromp over to Grand Pa Powells old place...Maybe Winnie Jo wants to come along...Well Winnie, don't worry we will take pictures....It will be just like you are there..

Amanda said .."Granny, Play on the internet all day.'..I think I will.

whooooeeee

I am wore out today...

I worked outside all day. I picked up the trash can full of the piles of moss that would not fit in the can last week. Michael had to jump in it again but I made it all fit...It is only supposed to weigh about 40 pounds max...I am sure it weighs about 150....But it weighed that much last week also.

I also sprayed all of the blocks again to kill the moss..

Then I also posted Darrel's old boat and trailer and his old motor home....The motor home is now sold and gone....Darrel tried to give it away several times...I sold it for 900 cash....and did not do a thing except post a picture of the outside and put an add on Craigs list....The boat and trailer needs to go next...Got to take the tarp off and get a picture...

Then I raked another 6 wheel barrels of limbs and dead stuff out of the yard and dumped it by the fire pit to burn soon...I also picked up all of the limbs that were in the corners of the yard and threw them in the burn pit..

I cleaned the kitchen a few minutes ago and vacuumed the house so it will look nice in the morning when I go to Church.

I am drinking my Camile tea. I had left over pinto beans and corn bread this evening...It was delicious...Then I soaked in a hot bath. I took some aspirins and I am ready for bed.

Amanda went to Urgent care today...She has pneumonia...I felt so bad I had not insisted they take her before today...we have medicine and she all ready feels better. She really did not seem to feel that bad but the fever just would not go away....Then she got a cough yesterday...I will take even better care of her now. She has had her hair washed and a bath and we are watching Friends on Netflix...

Tomorrow is Church and relaxing fire pit burn...

I hate to say but I am so thankful I am not in the cold and snow...Poor Fleta...and she walked today...like 7 miles of something like that...The pictures of the farm look pretty....But I know they are not...I need to call Jr and ask him to feed hay to Bandet and the goats....BUT that would probably be a useless as pants on a .....Let me see...I forget...LOL....Oh man...I have the BEST life...a laugh a minute!

God Bless us each and every one... Love you all God is good today....Read Sisters and stay warm....
Post pictures tomorrow...Promise..Love you all...
