Happy Birthday, Momma

Today is Momma's birthday. She would be 94 today.  The other day when I walked to Morris's and came out there by the well house it reminded me when Mom, Debby, Gilbert, and I would get water there. Betty had all ready left home. Usually we carried the water but for some reason we sometimes went to Lois's to get water. We hauled it in a cream can. I filled it in the back of the truck. Maybe it was  summer and the spring was not running much...But we would sometimes drive down there and load water. We went to that little well house looking thing. Lois called it the spring house. We did not use a hose. There was a cement container in that house and I dipped a bucket in it. Lois always stood out there and talked to Mom. Mom drove us down there.

Here is the last page of a letter Mom sent to me when I lived in AZ. This was when Tony worked on the turkey farm. I think he worked for Newberrys.  He came over here and ate lunch almost every day. Daddy was retired and he and Mom really loved him coming over.  They looked for him every day around noon they began the count down on how many minutes before he arrived. We all loved Tony but he was one of Mom's favorites. Tony was so good to Mom and dad.
If she was alive today she would have gotten a beautiful card from every one of us....She loved the cards. It did not matter what they said but they had to be pretty.. Remember?

It's Friday!!!

It has been a good week for me. The weather is nice for this time of year. I checked the 4 day forecast and it will be in the low 50's through Tuesday...I am out of here on the 1st so I am in good shape.

I bought a ticket from WA back to AZ on March 25th. I imagine I will stay there a week or two. It will be warm in AZ in April. I could come home with a tan. My ticket was only $75. That is a pretty good price. I have not bought the one from AZ back to Springfield yet...

I have had a busy day today. I have cleaned the Church. I pick Emily up at 3 and take her to Branson for the weekend. Her friend is having a birthday party. Then Robert and Hannah are spending tonight with me. Unless Robert is still sick.

Last evening I took Emily and Sam out to eat.  Then I came home and cleaned the house. It was a mess. Fleta was hoping her last renter was back and it would have been clean.

I have been turning on the propane heater for about 2 hours each morning. Then I turn it off for the rest of the day and the house stays nice. I have done that this week since it has warmed up. What a mild winter I have had this year. Yippee... And soon I will be in Sunny AZ...

Fleta has been walking her legs off this month. It makes me tired just watching her. She gets off early today. She may go buy groceries tho.

Betty...Come walk to the creek..

I started out in the corner of the yard and I walked down by the pond. just past the pond I crossed the ditch. This 1st picture is where I crawled through the fence between Dan and Fleta. But this used to be Daddy's land. Here I am facing south. The ditch is just about 30 feet west of where I am standing.
This is just a little ways after I crawled through the fence. I am still walking south I think this is close to the trail we took. I am along the bottom (west)of the brush hill and the ditch runs west of me.
This is on the trail still heading south. This used to be the walnut grove. The trees on the right just past this front tree....runs along that little pond of Dad's.  The little patch of trees used to be Dan's and Dad's property line.
Here I got by the pond. I am standing just north east of the pond,The little stand of trees behind the pond are just west of the pond. The old property line, i believe...,Remember it used to be so brushy you could not see past the pond.
I am just past the pond...Here is the clay hill where we used to drive up driving to the bottom.
Here I am up on the flat You can barely see Morris house in themiddle of the picture....As I remember we drove on the flat just befor the hill sloped down. The gate was at the north east side of the bottom  land daddy owned. It was at the top of the crest right befor heading into the bottom.
T think the old gate to get into the bottom was about where I am standing to take this picture....I am shooting east....towards the brush hill...I am at the top of the crest going into the bottom...
Here I am shooting towards the creek...You can see the Morris house...
Here is where I crossed the creek I am sitting on the Morris side shooting north to Daddy's side of the creek....I crossed right by the Morris old well house....We used to go into the creek more west of there...But this is where I could cross and get the least wet...I took my shoes and socks off and crossed bare footed...It was not to cold but the rocks hurt...
This is what was behind me in the last picture. I put my shoes back on and turned around and shot this...Morris well house..one tree (far left) is in her yard and the one standing alone almost in the middle of the pic is just north of the old road ...Morris house is off the left side of the pic..
Same 2 trees with a better view..
In this shot I was facing west....Remember the rock ledge on the north (right) side of the road right before you start up the Morris hill....The road was to the left side of the pic....and the spring house was to the right side of the pic...
Here I walked a little ways up and I am now standing in the road shooting west...and just a little north...here you can see the Morris hill where it starts up.. That rock wall was just off the right side of this pic..
 Morris house..
Morris house...east side..taken standing in the road..

inside the old barn..

Coming home I crossed about where the bridge washed out...You can see the Marr boys house house...I did not take my shoes off crossing here...I went to that narrow spot and jumped most of the water.. I was really temped to just walk the road going home ....but I thougt no, this may be the last chance I get to walk it...So after I crossed Back on Dad's old land I turned around, faced the creek and shot this..

This shot is taken from where the road used to be going to the bottom. I turned around and was shooting back towards the bottom land Most of the far off land in the shot would have been Dan's property....This is a new pond Dan built...The line of trees was the old fence line...all but maybe 10 foot or so of the west side of this pond...(right side of the pic..) used  to be daddy's land only. only a small part is on Dan's old place..
Here I am at the Clay hill...the little pasture pond is off the left side of the picture...You can see the old road cutting through  and on top of  the hillside...The old road Daddy drove to get to the bottom..
Here I am at the top of the hill....I turned around and shot back towards the bottom.. The main dirt road is about 30 foot left of this shot...
And here I turned around and pointed towards the house I was standing in the same spot as the last picture just turned around.....see the road just on the right side of the pic......the corner going to Floyds hill is just behind me...
There ya go betty... a walk to the creek.

A Tromp in the Field...

Oh today was so beautiful. I hope we have good weather for the next 2 weeks. But I doubt if we have a day this nice again till spring.

I went for a walk today down to  the creek. Betty you will have to come up here and walk down there. This first picture is down in the walnut grove...That isn't there anymore. I tried really hard to figure out the path I used to walk to get down to the bottom...I thought I was standing in the path...But I was not. I realized this when I started back to the house. From where I am standing in this picture I would have been on Dan's land...The path was on the other side of the trees.  It was just on this side of the ceder tree... The ceder trees that are on the slope of the hill. The littlest pasture pond, is hidden by  the ceder tree on the right side of the picture.
This shot was taken close to the grave yard. Boy look at that sun!

This is a shot of the bottom. You can see Morris's house and barn. When I was standing right here I got so upset because I could not figure out where the gate used to be to get into the bottom. I thought, "Well this is silly. I am acting like Betty Jean."
This is on the way back. The same tree that was in the 2nd picture.
So on the way back I got on the right trail and crossed over the fence about where I used to walk. But even tho I went down to the creek I still could not figure out  where we used to cross the creek...Actually I was trying to cross to far to the west. I just could not get the lay of the land right.

I walked out up at Fleta's and then she drove me back down there and I was able to remember better.  Well, after she told me things, I was able to remember. Tomorrow I am walking it again and I am going to cross the creek. Then I am going to walk the old road out like Daddy used to drive to the bottom. It just all looks so different. Betty, you just have to come and walk it.

I took several pictures but I could not get them to load....Then I decided to try Crome   and sure enough pictures would load.   I may have to stop using  Explorer. I will charge the  Camera battery and take a real camera tomorrow. These were on my phone.

I hope Emie had a good time at her party. The girls were all very good. I had a good time. The place was beautiful.

Yesterday after I got home, I laid down on the couch and went to sleep. Fleta came into the house around 3 and brought me a piece of pizza. I did not even get off the couch.  It was very good. Today when she went out on her walk, I was laying on the couch reading. She brought me a piece of chicken. I am going to try to be on the couch again tomorrow when she comes home. I would really like some pinto beans and cornbread tomorrow, Fleta.

I went to church last night. I drove there with the top down on my car...It was Great!
Enjoy the next 2 days. It will not be as warm as today....But warm enough I should not complain.

What a hoot!!!

I pulled up Fleets  walking map and tagged it as favorite....I can tell it is not for me. I accidental clicked on it and had red lines going everywhere....I would be lost in no time....But when I first pulled it up it said this...

It is true, we are missing sidewalks out here...LOL

Oh my, another beautiful day...I am not sure I can stand myself if it gets any better weather. This is great. Who would of thought 50 plus was such a good temp. Ah, the sunshine is the thing. I love this. I hope Winnie Jo is having some of the same up her way.

I tried to call Betty yesterday but she did not answer. I figured she was out plowing her garden, but no. She was at a funeral....We have all reached the age where we know more dead people than people than people that are alive. That is a sad age.

Tomorrow is Sunday and Fleta will be at Church. I will be up by Branson but I am going to church tomorrow night.

I spoke to Rhea awhile ago, she has her hands full. Her older sister just lost her husband. Rhea has been out in western KS helping her. They are burying him today down close to Bartlesville. Then yesterday Rhea got the news her older brother let a big pickup roll over his leg. He is in the hospital and is going to have to have an operation and he is diabetic. That scares me..

Fleta is going for a great drive in that new truck. I am sure her and those kids will hike.
