Baby, It's Cold Outside!

But it is nice in my house!

I am working on learning the books of the Bible. The new Testament is pretty much down pat, thanks to Betty.

Last year Fleta made me the family calendar with beautiful farm pictures on it. I did not get it till Sept. and did not even hang it till this week...It is a 2014 calendar. So Fleta updated the calendar to 2015. I printed out the sheets and glued them over the 2015 sheets....WA LA a great calendar..

It is to cold to walk...20 outside!

I bought my ticket to make it from Phoenix to WA in Feb. So I can make it to the Grand Girls 16th birthday party....yeah!

Tomorrow I am cooking black eye peas and hog Jowl... Fleta and I will have good luck in 2015...LOL

Merry Christmas...

I waited till night time thinking Fleta would post....She has not as of yet.. I hope she took some pictures...I wore my Santa Dress. She did not take my picture.

We ate till we all had to roll instead of walk....Fleta made ham, She had rolls rising and I made them into rolls....She had mashed potatoes that I peeled, boiled, and mashed.... I made a beautiful golden brown turkey, home made dressing, a big green salad, 2 pumpkin pies, a pecan pie, a carrot cake, ...all of my food was really good....well maybe the dressing was not so great but I like only stove top stuffing... I hauled it all to Fleta's....ate and then left all of the mess. I think George had to clean up.... Maybe Greg....I did not ask. I did come home and spotless cleaned Clayton's kitchen! A chore I do not like very well....Everything is so tall...counters, stove, cabinets...I really let the kitchen get messy...It is often piled with stuff that needs to go in a cubboard and I am to lazy to use the step stool and put things away.

The grand kids had a big day...They liked everything...and good ole Winnie Jo sent them gift cards...They are all ready planning on spending them....That was so nice Winnie...Not to mention my gas. And Betty paid way to much on my electric bill...Thanks to all...

Emily gave me a beautiful wall hanging...metal that says Family and small pictures hang from it of my grand kids....Fleta gave me an indoor/ outdoor thermometer...It will be great once I find a spot for it...When Fleta comes up I will ask her where to put it.

It really was a great peaceful day...Fleta got a Cooks ham because Clayton said they are the best....I basted my turkey every 30 minutes and cooked it uncovered because Clayton said that is the best...I guess he was right...the ham was delicious and the turkey was pretty, done, and not dry...

Oh and my girls Tex ed me Merry Christmas...Times they are a changing....

Sure did miss Clayton and Pat today....

ELVES!

Just elves...

I got home yesterday and found a note on the door from the gas man....He had filled my tank. Greg was with me and walked into the house first.. He handed me a piece of paper and said, "Here Helen, the gas man filled your tank."...I told Greg, "Well, the gas man  is just SOL!" Then I looked and it said paid. I went to Betty first and she fessed up who the elves were....Thank you Girls, So much.  I certainly have had an abundance of gifts given to me this year. I am truly blessed with dear family...

I have had a great day today. I have been cooking all morning....and everything I have cooked has turned out great! That is rare...I have made pumpkin pies, pecan pies, carrot cake,  dressing, I have the turkey prepped and ready to go in the oven tomorrow morning. I have not cooked the dressing but it is all mixed up and in the frig also. I am also making a green salad in the morning and I have everything chopped up for that except the lettuce.  I think I will make sausage crescent rolls.  I will be carting all of this to Fleta's tomorrow. JR is having food at his house today.

I am betting Hannah and Robert are excited about Christmas tomorrow.  I have a few little gifts for them and Emmie...Benjamin celebrated Christmas today with Melissa. He goes to his Dad's tomorrow. Big Ben said Santa does not come to his house. He said since Benjamin is 9 he is to old to believe in Santa..  Personally I believe Big people at Big Ben's house have been naughty and that is why Santa is not coming to his house.

Fleta walked today...over the hill...She did not get lost.

I hope everyone is having as good of a Christmas Eve as I am having...Love to all!

Sunday...

Rolled around again...

Fleta is going to haul me to church this morning. George will drive his own rig. I did not think to ask about Hannah. I only talked to George this morning.

Lane lands in Tulsa tonight at 11. JR said after that HIS Christmas is over. Emmie is so excited her brother is on his way!

BTW Winnie Jo....Yes we did get a rabbit. All the way to Harrison Emmie was looking at it's picture on her phone...."Oh, he's so cute. Oh I just love him." and on and on....Then when we got him, the same thing all the way home from Harrison...Plus she added, "He is so soft." And on and on.... That was Wednesday evening. I went to her house and helped her fix his cage. It is kept in her room in a wire cage. I took heavy duty plastic and ran it over the bottom and up the sides a way and duct taped it all around. Then I added hay so it would stay a little cleaner... Friday morning I hauled Emie to school. I asked about the rabbit..."HE'S SO EVVVVIIIILLLL!" He has bit her. He has scratched her. She puts him down on the floor and he runs at her. Then I heard..."AND DAD WON'T HELP ME WITH HIM AT ALL!

I love the coffee table Gilbert made for me. It is out of old barn wood. He brought it to me yesterday. His wife came along. He took  her all through the house and was showing her where the old bathroom used to be. Where the washer and dryer used to be years ago. I corrected him and explained the 'old' house had 3 bedrooms, here, here, and here.  Then Gilbert said, "Well, I don't even remember that. I was explaining to her how it was when I was little."  I almost laughed. This again enforced in my mind, "Dad had 3 sets of children." Then I showed the picture I had out of Grandma Gaddy and the Grand kids...The kids were small. It was Pats kids....and Gilbert in the picture. He truly thought of himself as a Grand-kid.

Then just one more thing ...because I have  to get ready  for Church...It is almost 9....This is also for Winnie Jo....and to make Betty drool....Winnie Jo sent a CD down here to Fleta. It is old motion pictures taken from her Daddy's reel to reel movies. Fleta brought it up here for me to watch. Well you know my TV's are small. I first put it in the one in the living room....It started and the picture bounced around all over the place....I took it to my little bedroom room TV...same thing. I was disgusted and It had only been on a minute...AND NO SOUND!  I thought what a rip off! Then I saw a picture of Grandpa Powell.  Then I thought....Goodness, to be able to see MY Grandpa Powell walk and move what a marvelous thing. He died the month before I was born. Maybe, just maybe I was being a LITTLE critical!  YA THINK?????  Well I don't know if the picture settled down a little or I just became more appreciative. But I watched it 3 times. What a joy....I saw Grandma and Grandpa, a lot of Aunt Fleta and Winnie Jo. Some of Uncle George and Aunt Winnie...She was beautiful! Not that  Aunt Fleta was not! There was one picture of Aunt Betty, for just a second. I loved it I just loved it! Oh , and they took a trip to the White House.... When I was little I remember dreaming of seeing the White House...It was way out of my wildest dreams of ever getting to go, and there was my Cousin, visiting the White House probably about the time I was born. What a blessing. Actually Betty, Fleta said she is going to make you a copy if you want one after you see this one.  What a Blessing.

I am taking Emmie to Harrison this afternoon to get a  bunny. She is excited. I think her Dad is nuts! LOL

On the way through Alpena I will stop by the Rag Barn and buy some net for my hat....For the play at Church. Fleta and I went yesterday and spotted a red dress that looks somewhat like 1930's style. Anyway I bought it...It was $2.00. The price was right. I washed it by hand last night and hung it in the bathroom to dry. I also took the dress Fleta bought for my little orphan girl and washed it. It was VERY dirty... It has a small rip I need to sew up.

We are having a gift exchange at Church...You are to spend $1.00. I made calendar pages on the computer and printed them. I put the Coin Church picture on the first page. I also made 6 gift cards (generic) with envelopes.  I will pick up a piece of ribbon today at the Rag Barn to hang the calendar.

I think I will make some truffles to go into the bags that Mrs. Preacher has put out for all of the kids. Fleta is making cookies.

Fleta and I dropped my car off at Victoria's house yesterday. Her Hubby does body work and he is going to try to put the rear window back in...Hopefully he can do it. Remember Fleta's goats knocked it out.
One week till Christmas Eve. Benjamin will have Christmas on  Christmas Eve this year. For the first time ever, his Dad will get him all day on Christmas. Always before they split the day. So Missy is moving up Christmas. Benjamin will not like this.

It is not cold outside but it is cool. I dread when it really gets cold and stays that way.
