Rainy Monday

It really stormed last night....It knocked out the electric from 6 till 10 AM ...or about..it really rained...I slept good...then I got up at 7 and took Emmie to school...I did a few things around the house and then went back to bed and slept till about 1... I guess I have been tired.

 

I did clean off the front porch. It was looking really cluttered...

 

Here is the beautiful quilt Winnie Jo gave to me...I am so proud of it...

 I am not sure I have posted a picture of the comfy couch Betty gave to me...Here it is

Betty gave me a squirrel feeder...Larry made several of them. I am going to hang this one on a tree...But for now I put bread and corn in it and sat it out on that pool deck of Clayton's...The Goats do not get up there...

 The porch after I cleaned it up a little...I brought one of Fleta's chairs in and sat it in my bedroom.

Fleta sent me this old picture of Barb feeding Brenda on the back porch...You can see the cistern lid and Mom's old washing machine...Gilbert sure was tow headed...I thought it was a neat ole picture of the porch..

I have decided I really should walk some everyday...I will not get carried away with it like Fleta...but I did walk to Dan's and down to Fleta's today...

Another Sunday....

Richard's Birthday was Friday and it did not go unnoticed by me or Sister's. We did not post but he was in all of our thoughts.

Betty came up Friday, just after noon. Fleta came up after work and we all had a nice visit. Fleta brought chicken patties from Tyson and we all enjoyed a sandwich. So I did not cook any supper.

Friday night Betty slept on the couch and I in my bed in Mama's bedroom. We talked about everything. We did not get a lot of sleep.

Saturday morning Betty woke me at 7 because she thought I had slept enough! LOL

Really she wanted me to be ready for Winnie Jo.

About 8 Betty and Fleta decided to walk up the Meek hill. I am sure they had a good visit on the road.

Winnie Jo and Mike got here before 9. She brought the 3 of us a quilt from Grandma Powell. Mine was the prettiest.....But I am sure Fleta and Betty think their's is best. I also got a 13" TV that plays  DVR disks....I put it beside my bed so I can watch movies when I fall asleep...Thank you, Winnie and Mike....I will use it daily and really enjoy it. It was perfect for the bedroom...

Winnie Jo made cole slaw to the reunion. I took nothing but myself. Fleta took BBQ wings and a great Cheese Cake Factory cheese cake. It was a big hit. Of course Francis's kids all brought delicious food. They are the best cooks. I enjoyed watching Kenny open his presents. His family all love him just like we did Debby. It was wonderful.

When we left the reunion, we took a drive by the brothers stones....They are both beautiful....Thank you Betty for the stone....and Winnie Jo for the plot.
When we left Fleta said we should have stayed and helped clean. I told her I did not bring anything so I had no mess. I ate off of  2 plates and threw them away. I love the way that works.

Aunt Winnie brought 2 buttons for the 2016 Clinton Campange for Patsy. I handed them off to Fleta so I would not be temped to keep them.

All in all it was a great weekend. Betty made it home safely. I am sure Winnie Jo did also. I should call but have not.

Today, I rest.

Oh the Grand Boy just came up with his new race car from Winnie Jo....He loves it...

Thursday....

I have volunteered to help clean the church....But they only get 1 hour....Emily wants me to pick her and Sam up after school today... An hour should be enough but I just think the 2 ladies I am helping may be slow...We will see..

I am going to JR's as soon as I post this. I want to clean his house a little because he will be home tonight or tomorrow night. I did not get it cleaned last week. Emily cleaned it.

The goats are up at my house every morning. I use fire crackers to run them off. They go up on the hill. I wish they would stay up there and clean it all off. Wouldn't that be something...

I saw 2 deer yesterday through the clearing I made here in the yard.  Today I saw a hawk in the dead tree on Dan's.

 I have been wanting to make some apple cinnamon jelly but I have not got it done yet...I have all of the stuff and even thawed the apple juice yesterday. I had froze juice from the apples I canned...

There is a squirrel in my yard hiding nuts.

It is supposed to warm up today. We had a sprinkle of rain yesterday. It seems like it will be winter before we can blink an eye...

Fleta searched for something to put on my tumbstone...I think she found the perfect verse for me....

Hump Day...and afternoon update...

I have cleaned up the fence row in the yard between Clayton's and Dan...

 Remember in the later years Daddy used to sit in the swing on the east side of the house....This was his view... and it is hard to believe but Mamma used to sit out there sometimes...Going off the back rock step....Debby sat there a lot with Daddy..

My next project is cleaning Clayton's shed...

 

Betty when you come...Fleta said she would come up and we could look through her tote of old pictures..

 

After I posted this morning at 9:30 I got a call from Fleta telling me to get dressed, we had to be in Alpena at 10:30 to bury Clayton.....That even sounds strange to you, doesn't it. It took me back a minute and then I knew what was going on. The monument place was setting his stone this morning and they were going to dig the hole for the ashes for us.

 

So Fleta picked me up and off we went. To bury Brother.

 

When the guys came with  the stone I asked something about the height of it . Then Fleta replied, "It's good enough for who  it's for." which for anyone who does not know, that was one of my Mom's sayings. The guys planting the stone laughed.  So MOST of Brother's ashes are down by his stone.... BUT....sister had to take a handful and scatter up on the Powell plot...Who knows, while she had him down there in her closet she may have sprinkled him all over the place... and I do mean all over THIS place...He may be in the yard, on the hill, and even down in this old cemetery... There is no telling with Sister....

 

BTW Virginia, Fleta is bring BBQ wings and a Cheese Cake Factory cheese cake to the reunion, Saturday...

 

Betty said she is coming up Friday and spending the night with me....We will see...

Sunday...Just one more thing...

Church was a joy today. We loved the singing. We had a group of men come to play and sing. They were really good. Fleta's wings were a hit.

FYI....JR said he is keeping his checkbook handy....He said his Mom and I could never do enough cleaning at the Church, to make a preacher say anything nice about us when we die... He is such a little pisser...
