Went to Fleta's....
I took a salad, green beans with Bacon grease, and frozen corn, It was all pretty good. Fleta's chicken was excellent. I even liked her dressing but it was just a little sweet...not bad tho and Emily loved it. The mashed potatoes were a hit by every ones standards. There was gravy for them that came off the buttermilk chicken that everyone raved about.Fleta made healthy buns and she thought she put to much 'health' into them and it made them heavy. I did not have one but they smelled good and I imagine they tasted good. But the pumpkin pies were the best....Robert had 4 pieces,,,,Hannah had 3....I went back inside and asked Robert where the pie was cause I wanted to take the rest of it home with me. He said it was in the Attic.....they do not have an attic...LOL I did not stay and help clean up....Oh where is Charlotte when you need her. The main purpose for the meal was for number 1 Grand Boy....and he ate and loved it all....so it was a big success. And maybe Fleta just left it out for a late supper also and then cleaned up the mess. Cause I did feel bad not helping her clean up. She was tired I could tell.
I called Fleta
early this morning asking what time we are going to eat.....not till 2 or 3.....she was just starting the dressing...So I went down there. They were not having anything for breakfast and the house did not have any good cooking smells. Just a bunch of raw chicken soaking in salt water. I know. But that's the truth.
Betty, I offered to help cook but Fleta wants to do it all. I am to make salad and a vegetable.....She told me that was what I was to make. Then she added, 'No one will eat salad, and there is no use getting carried away with vegetables. Just make one thing like green beans. No one really eats the vegetables.' So it appears I am not trusted to cook for her Thanksgiving meal. Sounds like Clayton taking charge of cooking. For some reason I do not have much hope of it being a great meal. Chicken soaking in salt water. It sure did not smell like Mamma's house Thanksgiving morning.
Mostly Fleta was just talking about the 5 miles she walked this morning. She walked almost to Pat's old rock house. That is why there were no good cooking smells in the house. Well, we can use that as an excuse.
The snake is not stinking yet....Maybe I did not hit it, but I'm pretty sure I did.
I am still in my PJ'S. I have not done anything yet this morning. Well I did make the bed.
Greg was cleaning up the riding lawn mower. He is getting it ready to put away for winter. I told him I was glad because his Dad paid a bundle for the mower and if it tore up his Mom will never OK the funds for a new one. We would all just be down there talking JR into buying one.
Betty, it is so comfy here with your couch, Daddy's chair, and Debby's bed. I was just thinking that this morning as I was sitting here drinking coffee. JR always sits in Daddy's rocker when he comes up. I will have to get a picture next time he sits in it. Of course, he likes sitting on the porch better but sometimes it is right in the sun.
Clayton has 8 big ole plastic tubs sitting right by the road. He had his tomato plants in them. I am not sure why he put them there. I think I will try to drag them to the garden fence, maybe. I am not sure. Patsy he had them filled with store bought potting soil. I would think I should keep that and just add to it next year, Right. Or do I have to use all new dirt...If I have to use new dirt I would just have to dig it from the ground. There is no way I could buy potting soil to fill all of those tubs. I am not even sure I can drag them but I think I can.
BTW Patsy, you need to post something new. I do not like seeing that old fat woman walking down the road.
Patsy, tell Kelly his horse is doing great! He is so pretty and fat. He is just the best horse. When I first get on him he forgets very time who is boss. It takes a bit of road under his feet before he decides he should just point those ears forward and travel on down the road. But once he does we can sure cover some ground.
I am going to move some tubs.

I just could not help myself....
I think I shot another snake today. He had been sticking his head up out of the porch crack and I had tried to snatch his head twice this morning while I was sitting on the porch. Then a little while ago I walked by the door and he had his head sticking up again. I just went and got my gun. I am pretty sure I hit him but I will know in a day or two. This one was not nearly as large as the last one. This ones head was just a little bigger around than my thumb. I don't know why he kept sticking his head out this morning. I thought after I tried to catch him the first time he would have been scared...But no he kept coming back and peeking out the crack. That last one I shot stunk pretty bad...
Friday.....
Fleta's home early day...
I have been working in the yard all morning...Our Brother was not in to pretty....I don't think anything bothered him. Below the house limbs had fallen and me and George drug them out about 3 weeks ago. Today I have been picking up shingles from where Clayton had JR patch the roof. Oh how many years ago? The shingles have decayed and they are coming up in pieces. So far I have picked up 6 five gallon buckets of them and threw them over the fence. I also found where he threw a lot of the linoleum he took off the bathroom and kitchen floors. He threw it out the bathroom window! That was 15 years ago! He was a mess! I have been adding to the pile of trash George is going to set on fire soon.
Fleta is having Thanksgiving dinner this Saturday because Lane will be here. I am to make a salad and some vegetable. She is making all of the rest of the food. I tried to offer to make the pumpkin pies but she said she likes custard pumpkin pies. I decided right then since this is her family they would like food that she makes...Even tho WE all know Fleta is not a great cook. We are having chicken rather than turkey. I am just going to leave her alone.
I am hungry. Guess I should heat up my vegetable soup I made the other day.

September 24th
I remember Patsy told the story of when Clayton was born but I could not locate it on her blog. I was just going to steal that and post it here.
I started this post this morning and just quit..
I cleaned out my burn trash can, colored my hair, cut my hair, made some vegetable soup, and now I am sitting on the porch watching a dozen butterflies on my flowers and watching Clayton's hummers buzzing the feeder while I sun my legs.
I miss him alot!
