And not just in the deep freeze
I woke up this morning at 7:30 to the ground covered in white ice, and it was still sleeting. Then I called Fleta and found out she had gone to work. I told her what the weather was doing here. In my opinion, she, being 76 years old and without a truck to drive, should not have gone to work. However, she did come home around 8:30 this evening. The ice had melted, and it was around 37 degrees, which was probably the high for the day. It was muddy, but at least it was not icy in the morning. It is supposed to be 17 degrees tonight. I have been sitting in this chair all day, just hooking.
I am making Mackenzie a blanket, and I have had it three-quarters of the way made twice, only to rip it out both times because it is off. The edges are not even, so I have now got about 20 inches or so done on it. With each row, I measure it from the first row to the row I am on to see if I am off I slip 2. Stitches together, That's what my sister Betty told me to do. I'm not having much fun with this one, that's for sure.
I trimmed my hair the day before yesterday, and it looks so much better. I did a great job, so I just took Fleta some pinto beans and ham that I made today, plus some cornbread I made today. It was so good, and she wanted her hair trimmed up, so I did it. I didn't get paid, but I don't get paid for my hooking work either.
Robert said he makes about $500 a week take-home. I asked him if I could borrow some money, and he asked what I needed the money for. I said I didn't know what I would use it for, and that's probably what I need to borrow it for. We never came to an understanding, and I left with no money.
He has gone to work now. Eliseo, Hannah, and Greg all left around 130. Greg works at Walmart, which is right in the same parking lot as McDonald's where the two kids work. I think it's wonderful.
I was supposed to have to take cinnamon rolls to the library tomorrow for them to sell for funds, but with this weather, I called and told them today that I would not be there and I will not go.
I sent Seth, Lex, and Jake some small crackers and things for Valentine's Day from Amazon. And I sent the grandest $10 today so her mother could get something for her. All the rest of them have jobs and they're too old.
Well, it has been so cold here and I've had my propane heat on a lot. I figured I better go down and check what percentage I had left. I have 50% left. They only fill it up to 80%, so that's not too bad, but I come in and turn off the stove anyway to avoid wasting it.
I wish I had something great to tell, but there's just nothing going on. Well, politics are, but I'm not talking about them. But it hasn't been worrying me like it did four years ago. God is in control, and I just need to remember that. What is going to happen is going to happen, and He knows best, and I need blind faith. I love God so much. I know what He wants from me, and I just must do my best every day to walk by His side. Let His spirit live in me, have faith, love my neighbors, watch my tongue, be grateful, and have peace. My life is really very good.
