We are having a heat wave

It's a beautiful sunny day with a comfortable temperature of 40 degrees outside. I've been able to get out and accomplish a few tasks today.

One of the highlights is that I'm preparing a special dinner for my sister Fleta. The menu includes roasted Cornish hens, roasted vegetables, stove-top stuffing, and biscuits. I'm aiming to have everything ready by the time she gets home at 2:15 pm, but I'm a bit concerned that the chickens may not be fully cooked yet. To ensure they're done, I've increased the oven temperature and I'm using a digital thermometer to monitor the internal temperature.

In addition to cooking, I've also dreaming of  doing some yard work. I took out a lot of trash, including some boxes, and I've been careful to secure them so they don't blow away in the wind. I may opt to use the burn barrel instead of the open pit, as that would be a safer option.

If the weather continues to be this pleasant, I may even find time to start some gardening tomorrow. It's shaping up to be a productive and enjoyable day.

I neglected taking my knee joint pills for three days this week and yesterday when I climbed out of bed I thought I was gonna die. It reminded me to take them. It’s hard to believe that they help that much. It’s just an over-the-counter joint medicine. I looked today and I’m gonna start this powder  Joint stuff next month. I think that may be easier for me to digest and it has calcium and vitamin D in it. When the doctor told me I could break my back just by bending over and picking something up it kind of made an impression on me . Then she said that means you would either have to go live with your kids or into an old folks home. Well, I hate to say it but old folks home is where I would go. I can’t imagine much worse than making my children wait  on me hand and foot. besides, you know it would be poor Kimberley.

I've decided to turn down the wall heater as it's become too hot in the house. Earlier this morning, I unplugged the heaters in the bathroom and kitchen to let the cords cool down, as the wiring in this house is quite old. I want to avoid any potential issues with overheating.

I just checked on the chicken and vegetables, and I think they're almost done. The chicken's internal temperature is currently at 127°F, but the recommended safe temperature is 165°F. I have about 20 minutes left, so I'll make the biscuits and put them in the oven.

The biscuits are now in the oven, and I'm eager to see how they turn out. On a positive note, my sourdough starter was quite bubbly this afternoon. I've divided it in half, added some flour and a bit of apple juice, and I'm hopeful that this will help maintain its health. I think it knew it's days were numbered with me.

Fleta will be home in about 25 minutes, and I'm planning to have her meal ready and waiting for her on the small table in the yard. I've also set out the three bananas and two apples I had saved for her. While Fleta sometimes comments on the messiness of the house, it doesn't bother me enough to clean it up right away.

Fleta came  home  to early. The hens went to 185
. Fleet Took  two delicious Cornish hens, which I am sure she enjoyed. The biscuits were also surprisingly good, which is an accomplishment for me! Now it's time to tidy up the kitchen.

my plate,yum mmm!
