Some days I can move mountains

But it doesn't happen very often.

I've been wanting to wash my car for about a week now, but it has been a little cold to do so. My car just gets so dirty on these dirt roads, and I hate washing it because as soon as I do, it gets dirty again the first time I drive to town. But yesterday, I pulled it out and thought I'm going to wash it this afternoon when it gets to 50 degrees. I looked at the weather, and it said it was supposed to rain today, so I thought, "Great, I'll put it off."

I've learned a few things living in Arkansas. I've resorted to going to the bathroom outside again, sometimes out of necessity, sometimes just because I'm working and don't want to come in. I've learned you can catch water from a leaky roof, and if it's not raining, it's not much of a problem. One thing I've really enjoyed knowing is that it's great to wash your car on a rainy day. for one more day." At 9 o'clock last night, it was pouring and spilling outside. Our rain in Arkansas sometimes rains really hard, and at other times, it just sprinkles for maybe half an hour, then sprinkles some more, and then it might rain really hard again. This morning when I got up, it was still raining hard, but at 10 o'clock, it stopped, and there was just a light sprinkle. I thought, "Now is my time." I got a big bucket of hot, soapy water and went outside. I didn't even need to wet the car. I just started washing from the top all the way around to the handles, then I went all the way around it about 2 feet lower, all the way around. Then I took another rag and went all around the bottom, muddy part underneath, rinsing my rag as I went along, not in my hot, soapy water, but just with the hose water. Then I finished up with taking one of the clean rags in the hot, soapy water and washing the rest of the car.

There are many advantages to washing your car when it is raining. One is that the underneath mud absolutely falls off as soon as you hit it with the hose because there is so much moisture. Also, the bugs on the front come off with just a squirt and a wipe, and you never have to rub. But the best part is that once you finish washing your car, you rinse it off with the hose, and by then it has started to rain again, and the rain rinses your car, leaving no water spots.

Since being here, I've washed my car three times in the rain, and it is the best experience. So today, I will have a very clean car, and as soon as the rain stops, it will be shiny.

I'm going down to Betty's this Sunday. I have decided to take her some old bread, usually for her chickens. Some of it is homemade bread or strawberry bread. I didn't use all of our hamburger buns, and I have three left of things like that, biscuits, cornbread, and any type of bread. What I do is I just take it and throw it in a Walmart bag and put it in the freezer. Well, I ended up with six Walmart bags full of bread out there, so today, since I'm going to see Betty this weekend, I took a large trash bag and put all those Walmart bags in it, and then I took all the bread out of all the containers that had four, five, six, or whatever pieces in them and threw it all in one trash bag. Normally, I would not have used a trash bag for this, but my sweet sister Betty, the last time she came up, brought me a whole big roll of tall kitchen trash bags, good ones that she got from Sam's. So I figured I could use one for her.

While I was going through the bread in the freezer early this morning, I found some beef that was frozen in there. I thawed it out, threw it in a pot with a bunch of onions, and started boiling it to make some soup. I have the biggest pot of soup in there. Not a lot of beef in it, but at least a gallon of soup. I would just about as soon have vegetable soup, but the beef does flavor it a little bit better. Today is Thursday, and I'm going to see Betty on Sunday, so I will save a jar to take to her. For today, Fleta and I can have soup for lunch.

I've also been gathering up all my stuff to take to Detective Betty. We kind of have this thing where I go down there and take a load of stuff, and then I bring back a lot of stuff from her house. This probably works pretty well because the stuff I take, she's not attached to. And the stuff I bring back, if I can't wear it or my grandkids can't wear it, then I'm not attached to it. That way, neither one of us minds getting rid of it.

I've completed one load of laundry today, which was necessary. And I have reheated my cup of coffee three times, but still have not drunk it.

It's now 11 o'clock, so I'm going to change out of my damp clothes that I still have on, take a shower, and put on some clean pajamas. After all, I've put in a full day. I'm going to drink my coffee in an hour or so, and I'll have a bowl of that delicious soup. I will put on some old movie on Netflix, whatever I can find, and I'm sure it will not be good unless I've already watched it 100 times. Those are the ones I usually choose, and I'm going to do my crocheting.

I love that the weather has warmed up. I mean, it's not a heat wave, but at least you're not freezing to death when you go outside without a coat, taking the trash out. Which, by the way, I also did today. I tell you, I'm on a roll.

Will write again tomorrow.
