A New Day...

I stayed up last night to watch the election. It was not a late night. By 8:30 we knew who had won.

Kris called me first upset because McCain got the 1st electoral votes. She thought maybe all of the predictions were wrong. I told her to hold on, we had just started. She called again when Obama had pulled enough votes to be elected. She wanted to make sure I was not asleep.

Billy called me at 7:00 and told me Obama took Ohio. I had not seen that watching MSN. I quickly turned to another station and sure enough there it was! Even Billy was up to date enough to know Ohio was a BIG deal.

Melissa does not watch TV at all at her house. She has no cable and no rabbit ears. She thinks Benjamin is better off not watching TV. No wonder he loves to come to Granny’s! Anyway I was on the phone with her several times through out the evening. She was on the computer getting the entire scoop. She does have high speed internet at least!


It took till 7: AM this morning for Missouri to turn red. All I can say is Winnie must have worked her tail off to get out that many votes. It took them a long time to count.

Alaska turned red. I personally think that was because Alaska does not want Palin back and thought they would do their part to get rid of her.

I was surprised when Flordia turned Blue. Maybe all of those Lawyers sent there did some good!

Anyway I was so proud all of my kids were at least interested and could tell you who the candidates were and some of their platforms. One person in my house could have cared less. When I told Mike Obama had 333 electoral votes he asked if that was good. Two weeks ago he told me he thought an Independent ‘might just win this election.‘ He had no names of an Independent Candidate. I don’t know if that thought just fell out of the sky on his head or he had been talking to another mechanic. Four weeks he did not know who was running. I was so disgusted I have not asked him since.
