Long Lines....

Flordia early voting..

lines in Georgia

Mesa AZ where I voted,,,

On the 10:00 news last night they showed a voting place in Tempe, AZ (Another suburb of phoenix.) The lines were long and people had been waiting a long time. They interviewed a Lady that had been in line since 2:30. She was about my age and there was no man waiting with her. Bet she voted Obama. They also said no one that had waited seemed to be upset. It is a good thing I was not voting there or there would have been one upset person.

It is Saturday and Mike is working all day today. He did the same last weekend and I cleaned the house. I may just do that again today.

We get our bi-weekly vegetable baskets today. Missy said she would bring mine into town. Missy lives about 25 miles S/E of me. I love getting our fruit/vegetable basket because it is always a surprise what we get. Two weeks ago we got a few yellow crooked neck squash. I put some in some soup and hid some in the spaghetti sauce but I still have 3 left. They may ruin I just don't know what to do with them since I do not like them fried. I guess I could chop them up and freeze them and keep hiding them in sauce.

While Missy is here I will get her to help me lay out Austin's quilt. He will be glad when I give it to him. When he seen it this week he asked me if it was going to be as big as his last one, because he wanted to be able to have it on his bed to sleep under and also have enough hanging off the side for a tent. I told him this one is bigger! He liked that.

Larry Sanders is home on leave from the service and I promised his Mama, Jeanie I would make him a Cinnamon ring and take it to him today. He stopped by to see me last night. It is hard to believe I changed his diapers when he was 9 months old.

Darrel is going home today. He will land in Seattle in time to vote on the new Boeing strike package and pick up his last strike check ...then it's off to work Monday morning. His kids will be glad to see him. Amanda did not sleep well while he was gone, she kept crying for her daddy.

To answer your question about what to do with your yellow crookneck squash, cut and paste the following url and check out one of my favorite recipes:

http://www.virtualcities.com/ons/ca/w/caw36026.htm

This was a Pillsbury prize winner almost thirty years ago, and it's still one of my favorite foods. The original recipe calls for zucchini, but I nearly always make it with the milder yellow squash instead.

You mentioned "hiding" the squash, so I'm thinking someone there doesn't like it. Nevermind. I'm not much of a squash eater, either, but I could eat this whole recipe all by myself.

Helen, this summer, we grilled? some of the z squash in foil with a little butter like you would the fall acorn squash and I liked them. You could bake them in foil in your little toaster oven. Anyway, I did not think I would like summer squash cooked like winter squash, but I did.
