And Away We Go.....

Missy asked Benjamin's Daddy if he would help him learn to ride a bike this weekend. I knew Benjamin was ready he just needed a little more instruction than me or his Mama could give him. So Saturday Ben picked up Benjamin and his little bike and within 2 hours was sending Missy a video of Benjamin riding his bike around in circles...Missy left his little bike at his Dad's and he took home this bike, it is Austin's old one. I now need to get Austin a new one to have at my house, or a new one for his house and get the old one for here.
They stopped by here on the way home and Benjamin showed me he could 'Ride like the wind.' He was very proud and is all ready saying he will be able to ride his bike to school next year...I did not bother to tell him, 'When pigs fly.'
All the way to the end of the street....
Then here he comes back...A Big Boy!

Produce Day

Today I was the one that went to pick up our produce. I often post pictures of it on the blog but it is usually just my half since Missy and I split it. Well today I did not feel like taking her half to her house so I brought it all home and laid it out to take a picture. This is what we get for $15.00 We often buy it every week and then sometimes we skip a week if we have something going on that interferes with us being able to pick it up at 8 AM. The produce is really fresh. Much better than what you get in the store. Now you never know what you are going to get but it is always a variety and I like that. I think this is a lot for $15.00. Look at those little sweet potatoes, Betty. Every time I get them I think of you.
It is starting to be cooler here in the mornings and I love that.

I would call this "Walking the Talk"

I read this on MSN this morning...It even made me feel hopeful!

Landlord refuses to evict jobless tenants

Instead, he takes a job to help pay the bills while the families try to get back on their feet.

It's yet another tale of heartbreak, except this one ends with the kind of warmth you only expect on the Hallmark Channel.
Ed Peirce, a landlord who lives in Rock Hill, S.C., had a couple of options when both of the tenants in his two West Virginia rental houses lost their jobs and could no longer pay rent. The most obvious option was to evict them, but for Peirce, that might have been the last option on his list.

No, this man, a 54-year-old ordained minister profiled in The Herald of Rock Hill, instead took a job paying $8.50 an hour in the photo department at the local Walgreens to make his own ends meet while his tenants get back on their feet. From the article:

"I sat with them and prayed for better times," Peirce said. "These are stand-up guys. Family men. Proud. They paid me before, when they were working. You don't show your faith, your Christianity, in words. You do it in deeds."

Happy Birthday, Brother...

Well you made it to 65...I would say that is too old to say you died young...Here you are all decked out in new overalls and a new sailor hat, no doubt the shirt was home made by Mama, and no shoes...I wonder who took this picture. Maybe Uncle Harold came in since Daddy had gotten home or maybe Betty Lou had a camera then... I wonder...
Happy Birthday!
I added 'This day in history' to my blog...it said nothing happened 9/24/44....Are we sure that is your Birth Date???

I MIGHT Be Anti Social,,

I have lived in this house 11 years and do not know any of my neighbors by their name...Yuppies have lived on the east side of my home for all of the 11 years.. I know this because they have nothing in their garage except 2 vehicles (SUV type) that should be against the law!...

On the west side of my house is a rental, the woman who lives in it is younger very pretty and may be a call girl, various different men bring her home in BMW's and the like....She only seems to be gone in the evenings...and all decked out... If my husband was 20 years younger he would probably know her name...

Down 3 houses from me lives the "def guy" and his wife, they are a little older than us, I only know of them because on occasion he has came to my door, with a note, wanting borrow one of our million tools that are in our 3 car garage that we can barely squeeze 2 vehicles into because of 37 years of crap is piled in there..

Directly across the street from us, south, lives a couple a little younger than us. They also have lived there for all 11 years and his wife had cancer a few years ago, I only know this because when my son, now 26, was in school he went to the same school as their daughter..and my son told me…

A few months ago when the economy was even worse, I thought maybe I should meet the neighbors, take them some home made food of some kind and just let them know I was home all day in case there was ever anything they needed..But that was only a fleeting thought untill my nice pill wore off, Thank Goodness!
