I have lived in this house 11 years and do not know any of my neighbors by their name...Yuppies have lived on the east side of my home for all of the 11 years.. I know this because they have nothing in their garage except 2 vehicles (SUV type) that should be against the law!...
On the west side of my house is a rental, the woman who lives in it is younger very pretty and may be a call girl, various different men bring her home in BMW's and the like....She only seems to be gone in the evenings...and all decked out... If my husband was 20 years younger he would probably know her name...
Down 3 houses from me lives the "def guy" and his wife, they are a little older than us, I only know of them because on occasion he has came to my door, with a note, wanting borrow one of our million tools that are in our 3 car garage that we can barely squeeze 2 vehicles into because of 37 years of crap is piled in there..
Directly across the street from us, south, lives a couple a little younger than us. They also have lived there for all 11 years and his wife had cancer a few years ago, I only know this because when my son, now 26, was in school he went to the same school as their daughter..and my son told me…
A few months ago when the economy was even worse, I thought maybe I should meet the neighbors, take them some home made food of some kind and just let them know I was home all day in case there was ever anything they needed..But that was only a fleeting thought untill my nice pill wore off, Thank Goodness!

my son just called asking how old he is...he is 27 not 26 as stated in the blog.....he was being a smartie saying he just wanted to make sure HE was not confused...
some how your blog just made me really smile today...I even read it outloud to Mike
I dont socialize with my neighbors either. The ones right next to my house dont mow there yard all year. The front porch is falling in and one of there trees is still split from the ice storm. I was shocked the other day the have put a new metal roof on the place. I just could not believe the roof cost more than what the house was worth. Maybe they got some stimlus money for the roof. I will take a photo of it sometime.
LOL, your nice pill, huh. I'm with you, I know all of our neighbors by name right around us, about 10 different houses, but I don't want to get so friendly we're spending time together. We do call them if something doesn't look right, or they left their garage door up and it's getting dark outside, to check on them. These are the two houses directly across from us and two widows live in them. We've picked up mail and papers and held for some of them, but not too often.
When the one lady's husband passed away, we took over a spiral ham, buns, potato chips, baked beans, cookies, this way we figured the two children and the four or five grandchildren plus some great grandchildren would have something to eat either before or after the funeral.
We did the same for the other lady when her son passed away last year, she had company staying with her.
I like to be friendly, but I don't like them coming to visit. LOL Just talk outside in the driveway or yard.
Hope you've been feeling well and everything is going ok for you.
don't get friendly with neighbors...is the best advice for anyone.
Very funny post and what interesting neighbors you have. Loved how how your husband would know her name if he were younger. If you get the cookie delivery urge again, I'd leave him home.
I live in a rural area but do know my neighbors. We don't live in eachother's hip pocket but they are friendly and there if needed.
They really are a very kind and caring group. All my life I have been exceptionally lucky with my neighbors.
