Thursday...

George went to Branson to meet up with a bunch of his buddy's that served in Nam with him. Fleta is at work and the 2 kids are in school. So I am in charge!

I still have more ironing to do today. I am not sure I will get it done.

I have been setting on the front porch all morning. I have been drinking coffee, reading on the net, and swatting flies.

I have flies every where! They swarm my porch. I do not know why. I was telling Patty about them this morning and she asked if the fly bait was not working. Well, it is killing a lot of flies but when 1 dies 100 of it's closest friends come to the funeral.

Remember when Mama used to shoo them out of the house with a tea towel.

Pat said to get a milk jug, cut a large hole in it, get some canned fruit and put in the bottom and then put fly bait on top of that and hang it up....

So I went to Fleets frig. She had one milk jug that only had a pint left of milk in it. I put the milk in a fruit jar and took the jug.

I cut a large hole in the jug. Then I tried to find canned fruit. I found 1 can of cherry pie filling. But no, I did not use that. BTW I also found cob webs in the cabinet while I was searching for fruit. Apparently Fleta does not use much canned food.

In the frig I found some grapes that had seen better days and a plumb. I smashed those up and added sugar and microwaved it. Then I put it in the dirty milk jug.

I came over here...and since the fly bait was free to me I used a large amount. I hung up the jug on the porch and came inside...4 flies followed me inside. They are all dead now. But I doubt if my porch will be fly free till cold weather. We will see.

I picked up some walnuts yesterday and George dumped them in the road right between the new barn and the bend in the road.  I think so far they have been run over about a dozen times. Fleta said I should call Clayton and ask him to come down because I need something. Then after he gets her just tell him I wanted him to drive over the walnuts.

I asked Clayton to climb the walnut tree and shake the walnuts out. He would not do it. He used to do that all of the time when we were kids.  I think, he thinks, he is old!

And just FYI if anyone needs to stain any furniture....just use walnut hulls. My hands are BLACK. I have scrubbed and bleached them but they still look black. Hannah saw them and asked if I took a bath last night.

I was going to pick up more walnuts and finish my ironing today. But since I am in charge and have all of this pressure I think I will just lay down and watch a little TV. Maybe I can see some of the Congress men saying something stupid. I think it is really sad that ole McCain seems to be the voice of reason for the Republican party!
