My nephew. This is the way he has always looked in my mind and the way he will always look to me.
Smiling, making everyone laugh, good to all of us, and always ready with a big tale to tell.
A good boy, a good man!
You know when Mike left ARK in 81 to go to Kansas on a wild hare to work in the oil fields and left me there about 6 months pregnant and with 2 other little kids, Tony went with him. They rented a small dumpy trailer to live in. After just a few weeks apparently Mike was going to the bars with women, and running around. The first trip they made home in January Tony refused to go back. he told his mama what was going on and I think she told him not to go back or he just had the idea if he did not go back Mike would not....You know we Powell's look after each other....and he is a Powell through and through.
I never told that story. I don`t know if Pat ever told anyone except me.
Tony`s not going back did not stop Mike. He still went back to KS. I soon followed Mike there. Not that it made much difference. But I must say I made the best friends in Kansas. Long lasting friends. Looking back now it would have best if Mike would have just left with one of those women. Or I would have kicked him out. You know that hind sight is 20/20
