Years ago Mike bought ME a hand gun and thought I should carry it!
Today Mackenzie and I went to a movie. There was one she wanted to see called Bounty Hunter. Apparently this movie had been out for awhile and it was on at the dollar theater. This is not a Theater I have gone to in years but this movie was not showing at any here close to my house…
So we get there and it is in a mall. It was very disorganized and you bought tickets at the snack bar. The lines were long and there were 2 girls in line behind me. (I say girls probably 35 or so) They got out of line to find a shorter one and I told them if they found one to save me a spot…They did not find a shorter one and came back to the line I was in. Now they were about 5 people back. When I got to the counter I tossed a 5 up there and said we want 2 tickets for Bounty Hunter and motioned to the girls that left the line and asked which show they wanted. They jumped right up there and said the name of their movie and one of the girls also threw down a 5. She said, ‘Let me pay.’ and I said fine. After all we’re talking 2 bucks…
Well by the time we got to our movie it was dark in the theater and previews had started. The theater had several people but was not near full. We choose a side seat along the wall about half way back, there were 2 seats in each row…
In front of us was an old lady (about 70) sitting against the wall and one empty seat beside her…Now I know why…
Behind us was an elderly couple.
About the time the movie started I knew Kenzie wanted pop and snacks. So I asked her what she wanted…we were not being loud I did not think. I really do try to be courteous…Then the woman in front of us turned around and said loudly, “Will you shout up!’
I did not say anything to her. Kenzie decided she did not want anything. I asked her if she wanted to move and she said no but I could tell it put a damper on her mood….
People should just not be mean to kids! They should really not be mean to my kids!
So when the movie ended I stood up and blocked the isle to let Kenzie out. The people sitting behind us stood up and I said. “I am so sorry if we disturbed your movie.' The lady quickly replied, “ That was not me that said that. It was the lady there”…and pointed. I told her I knew this but I figured if I had disturbed her I had also disturbed them. She said, 'Heavens NO!'....I then knew we were not being loud. That other lady was just a Bitch!
I stayed in the isle and handed Kenzie my purse and said go on out, I’ll be right there. Kenzie took off and I stepped back a row and stood in front of the empty seat. I leaned over to the woman and said
“My Grand Daughter has never been told to shut up by anyone.” The woman started talking saying we were not supposed to talk in theaters… Of course just because someone is talking does not mean they can talk louder than me. I told her (while she was talking) that she could have used several other words like, please be quiet…SHHHH…or do you mind? But SHUT UP! was not appropriate.
She then said that that girl needed to be told to shut up…I informed her no she did not. She was a very good, kind girl and did not deserve that!..
The woman stated, “I am an OLD woman.”
I said, “Yes you are and I have stage 4 terminal breast cancer. Would you like to change places with me? "
She did not have any more to say so I stepped back into the isle and she was behind me….You can not get around a fat woman in a theater isle.
On the way out I courteously stopped and let EVERYONE out of their seats in front of me. That lady was stuck behind me for at least 10 minutes…
Let me just add this…Cancer or not...I would not trade places with that old cranky woman for all of the tea in China!
