Passing the Torch....

Bill showing Austin how to change the oil in my car...

I still remember when Bill was 17 years old. He had a good friend Kyle, over that lived in this neighborhood... Bill mentioned he had just been changing the oil in his car. Kyle thought it was odd that Bill had to change the oil in his car. Kyle said his Mom paid to have his changed at jiffy Lube every three months.

Bill informed Kyle he not only had to change the oil in his car, but also his Mom's, Dad's, and booth Sisters vehicles. Kyle asked Bill why he had to do that....This was the way the story went...

Well, Kyle, when I was seven my Dad was going to change the oil in the car. Dad said, "Bill do you want to come out and watch me change the oil?" I thought this would be great fun. I got to watch and hand him the tools. Then when the oil needed to be changed again My Dad asked, "Bill, do you want to help me change the oil?" So I got to help dump in some of the oil and it was great. Then that lasted for about three more oil changes. Then one day Dad said, "Bill, come on out and you can change the oil and I will watch you." I thought I was really doing something really great. I could change the oil with out Dad even helping me. I think I was about 9 at that time. That lasted for a few years...When I reached 11 years old Dad said, "Bill, get out there and change the oil in the car." and I have been doing it ever since.

Austin turned seven two weeks ago.....

None of our girls ever changed their own oil and filter, but the girls make sure they get it done on time. Our son did his own and his wive and kids. Our one daughter's ex, would never remember to do his car, she had to remind him and remind him. Usually he drove it till it wouldn't run any longer. What a loser he was and still is. He's moved down south, and I think he's fallen through the cracks, he hasn't paid any child support for two years now. I say put his a$$ in jail for a while. But she would have to take off work to go to court and all. She starts a new job Monday at a different hospital, in the same position and same pay, plus closer to where she lives. She also starts her new classes on Monday, she's taking classes to become an RN. She's one busy person. Hope you and family have a terrific healthy New Year.
