Sisters, does this count the same as having oatmeal for breakfast?
Not only am I eating this apple crumb pie for breakfast but it is not even 5AM yet.
I only used 1/3 cup sugar in the whole pie, topping and all so I'll bet if I did not eat the crust it would not be so bad. But I am going to eat the crust....Erin, could I call that my toast? I'm glad Kenzie is not up to see this. No wonder I have a weight problem.
I did have roasted vegetables for supper last night. I roasted yellow squash, zucchini squash, carrots, and onions in the oven while I baked this pie. They turned out very good. I often have roasted vegetables at restaurants but I had never made them at home.
I still have that egg plant that I will need to cook. I think I will try to hide it in spaghetti sauce.Kenzie told me the story of when her Mom made chicken Parmesan but instead of chicken used egg plant and tried to hide it under the sauce and cheese. Kenzie said, “Mama was the only one that would eat it, but we all had to sit at the table and watch her and that is all we could have for supper." Later I was talking to Missy about cooking my egg plant and Missy suggested egg plant Parmesan....Kenzie heard her. I am sure Kenzie thought, "Sisters!"
Yesterday, Mackenzie, Benjamin, and I went to see the movie Blind Side. It was a cute movie. It was not for little kids but Benjamin wanted to go with us and he sat through it just fine and loved all of the football and basketball scenes. Besides his Mama had a movie pass and 2 movie cards and that got us all in free. Plus there was more money on the card for some part of the snacks. So it was only right Benjamin got to go. Kenzie liked the movie. There were only a very few bad words and no sex or nudity. There was talk of drugs and a scene where drugs were sitting on a table. It was a story about a black kid taken in by a white rich family. Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw star in it. I doubt if I scared the grand kids too much by watching it.
Kenzie wants to go see another Booger-Boo movie (as Daddy would call it.) Some science fiction thing. I told Kenzie I took her to see that vampire one, and I slept all of the way through it and I was just not up to watching another one. She then told me this one had cartoon characters in it. I'll bet she wished she had not mentioned that because she had to listen to my speech about how movies with cartoon characters should be directed towards 5 year olds or younger and how it was not right for people to make movies with adult content using cartoon characters. We ended the conversation with, "But my whole family loves science fiction." I told her I knew that and it was fine and when she went back on Spring Break I would send money where they could all go see that movie. I'll bet she thought, "I sat through your dumb movie," But she did not say that.
She is taking orders for Girl Scout Cookies...We walked around in Missy's neighborhood yesterday a little and pre sold some cookies...I am not in favor of that walking the neighborhood thing. I much prefer sitting up a booth outside a public place and selling them.
We did pre sell a few. Mostly, I ordered a bunch. We may sit up our own booth. We will have enough cookies...
Today is Church day. Last night Kenzie told me she did not want to go. She suggested we just sit home and read the Bible. She has been gone for the last three Sunday's and is out of the loop, so to speak. I think I might make her go anyway but let her sit in church with me if she wants.
