Today Missy picked up our Vegetable basket. I bought a case of peaches and they are not quiet ripe. I have laid them out on the counter and as soon as they are ripe I am going to peel, slice, and freeze them. But I might make a peach pie first.
I was glad to see a head of cabbage in our basket. For years I did not like cooked cabbage but Rhea cooked me some fresh from her garden one time and I have been a fan of cooked cabbage ever since. The cabbage you buy in the store is not near as good as fresh from the garden. This head tastes like I went right to Clayton's garden and picked it. I have chopped up the entire head and I am going to cook it later. I will eat on it for at least 3 days.We also got bell peppers that smell really strong and fresh. The snow peas and green beans look good also. I am going to make pork stir fry this evening with pork, snow peas, and bell peppers. The rest of them I am going to throw in the freezer because they tend to get old in my frig before I can eat them... I have a hunk of frozen Honey Baked Ham I am going to cook with the green beans, yum! Can you tell I am hungry today.
Every one of these strawberries were good. I wish I had some rhubarb to cook with them. I have cleaned them and have two gallon Ziploc bags full. I think this was a four pound box. Missy helped them divide the produce this morning and when you work you get to choose an extra item. Missy chose an extra four pound tub of green grapes, so we each got a lot of grapes. Mike is off all week so hopefully he will eat them. I washed them and put them into Ziploc bags and laid them on the top shelf of the frig. He can't miss them there.
I also got a round loaf of whole wheat cranberry bread that I cut and had a slice. It was so pretty and tasted very good but the batteries died on the camera before I could take a picture of it.
We celebrated the 4th yesterday at Missy's. We only had Benjamin. We cooked steaks and they were good. Benjamin set off fire works, only the popper kind. Before that Missy, Benjamin, and I spent several hours at the VVL (Val Vista Lakes, where Missy lives) Beach. It was nice and col in the water.

All looks very good. Cabbage is so good. I love it. Cook with little water and just butter or bacon or ham. I can make a meal on it. Green beans...yum yum.
It's raining here and very cool, right now it is 67.
The green beans and ham sound delicious. About the grapes, don't be so sure he won't wish them on the top shelf, my husband can look right at something and still not see it. LOL He likes for the grapes to set out and I will elt a few set out, but I keep telling him, they spoil too quickly at room temperature.
Have a nice evening.
