A bird built a nest in the wreath on my front door that is visable through the glass?
I don't use the door, so it's really no big suprise that a bird would build there. This weekened I noticed one small, pale blue egg. Today I noticed one larger tan and brown speckled egg had been added. Why are the eggs so different?I haven't seen either parent since this weekend. Why aren't they incubating?

Then I pulled up this from ASK
Some Thrashers and Thrushes lay blue eggs but these are usually medium sized song birds. What small song birds lay blue eggs?
I have a chipping sparrow that has bright blue eggs that have dark splotches on them...the color is as bright as robin eggs. This bird usually builds nests that are low to the ground (most of mine are located 4'-6') and as a rule these nests are very thin (almost see through). However, like all things, there are variations even with this.
I do not know what the bird was that looked like a sparrow...It was just another ugly brown bird like most of them in AZ are. We do not get any pretty birds here in my backyard they are mostly brown...Brown Doves, Brown Roadrunners, Brown Sparrows, Brown Finches ( They do have a very little red color..) even the humming birds we have are mostly brown and they are about 3 times the size of the ones in Fleta's yard.......everything has to blend in with our desert...
I have never seen a red bird here or a blue bird, or a yellow finch....we just have brown here....dead and dying brown...

Let them live. Brown is ok..one of my favorite colors. Birds probably mutate over time to blend with the environmnent...and what color is AZ environment? BROWN!
