My Sister Patsy Poor raised 3 Big Ole Missouri boys. They went to work very young and never really got into any trouble. They were always good boys and very entertaining to be around.
In the 80's my husband Mike had an automotive shop there in the little Arkansas town I was raised in. Patsy's boys were often at Mikes shop helping him with this or that. Pats boys are almost 20 years younger than my husband but mentally they were all the same age....Teenagers...
One Day Pat's youngest son, and not her most ambitious one, Sam was at the shop. Mike wanted Sam to help him load a big old transmission in the bed of a truck. Well Sam was not wanting to do it. He said he would hurt himself if he helped Mike lift it. Mike kept after him saying things like "Tony and I lifted it." Tony is Pat's middle son.
The afternoon wore on and Sam kept sitting by the pot belly stove keeping warm and Mike just kept razzing him about helping lift the transmission...Finally Sammy had had enough. He gets up walks over to the transmission, picks it up and throws it in the bed of the truck. He turns to Mike and said, "There, are you satisfied?" and walks back over and sits back down by the stove...
I don't think anyone messes with Sam.
