Michael's Quilt

Yesterday I started working on Michael’s quilt. Since I found the backing I wanted I have been inspired! I still need to piece at least one row longer and two rows width, maybe more. I am going to the fabric store today and pick up some more green material. If I can’t find it I will have to use frog strips to frame it. I have a lot of frog material. I imagine they will still have the green fabric. Both pieced fabrics are flannel so it is very soft. While I am at the fabric store I am going to pick up material for Mackenzie’s and Baby Jake’s quilt. After I get those made the only one left is Austin’s. He would be very upset if he knew he was the last one to get a quilt. I have made several quilts for Austin but none of them were full size like the ones I am making now. He does not like to me last at anything.

I also went back to my general MD yesterday. My rash, or whelps, had gotten much worse. The benadryl was not stopping the itching and I was also swelling a lot. Yesterday the hives were all over my ankles, feet, and the back of my calves along with all over my stomach. My blood pressure was still high, 139 over 108. The Doctor took a biopsy of the hives. She cut a piece out of the back of my right calf. They also drew some blood because she thinks I might have Valley fever. I am not so sure of that but we will see. The Doctor did give me some topical steroid lotion that has helped the hives after only one treatment. I am grateful for that because I thought I was going to just itch to death. She also gave me a new blood pressure to take along with the one they already have me taking.

On the upside, I have felt better this week even with the rash problem. I cleaned my house Monday since I was feeling so good. That way I have at least been not setting around looking at a mess! Now if I get that quilt put together by tomorrow it will have been a productive week.

Good morning. Sorry you still have the hives. Hope they soon find out what the problem is.

I take two blood pressure pills each day, 100/25mg of Hyzaar and 100mg of Toporal XL. The first one has 25 mg of some kind of a water pill in it.

The quilt for Michael is looking great. Now do you have to stitch around every block, or do you just knot each block with some yarn. My Mother-in-law had made our kids a quilt for a twin bed, she called them crazy quilts, she would piece together all kinds of scraps and when she gave them to me, told me to knot each square, which didn't take that long to do.

My Mother actually quilts a quilt on an old wooden frame, her fingers use to get so sore even with thimbles. She gave me one for a full size bed, called the bow tie. If she had asked me, I would have preferred a different pattern, to me this looks more masculine.

But in the winter when my joints are really aching, I bring the quilt out from the quilt rack in the bedroom and make it like and envelope and wrap myself up in it getting really warm and it seems to help the aching joints feel better.

Hope you're feeling better soon.
