Home from Hawaii

Missy gave me 2 presents tonight...One is a 1million dollar Elvis bill...The other is a picture of the Million Dollar Boy!

Benjamin and Missy took kenzie and me to the store tonight. Benjamin has forgiven me for talking so mean...Thank Goodness..

You've got admit this is a cute boy...He loves ties. He wants to wear them on T Shirts... This picture was taken at his day care. He wore the suit all day and he loved it...and look his hair is laid down...

One of my favorites...

A piece of the Memorial speech given by Teddy about Brother Bobby...

"This is the way he lived. My brother need not be idealized, or enlarged in death beyond what he was in life, to be remembered simply as a good and decent man, who saw wrong and tried to right it, saw suffering and tried to heal it, saw war and tried to stop it." Ted Kennedy June 8, 1968

Supper...

I asked Mackenzie if she liked beans and cornbread and she loves it....So Yippie, Skippie, beans and cornbread for supper tonight...I thought I had a big ham bone but when I pulled it out of the freezer last night it was beef...I guess I could have thrown it in anyway, Fleta would have...But I asked Missy to bring a ham bone from her house this morning.

Missy just picked up Benjamin. I did not have him standing on the curb this morning. He was not agreeable enough that I could get him that far. As a matter of fact he locked the bathroom door on me and I had to 'talk mean' to get him to open the door. It is still dark and he did not think he should be up. as a matter of fact he did not think he had gotten to sleep at all. I did have him dressed but I almost made him wait till his Mama got here to do it but then I knew if she had to get mean he would be mad at her all day. This way he got to leave the mean woman and go with Mama.

Oh, I wish I had taken a picture of the cornbread Jiffy boxes then all of my Sisters and Brother could have sighed....

Sisters and cooking...

I would have to say out of all of my Sisters Clayton can cook the best...But you know that Fleta she just can not cook...I have seen her make things and I just shake my head....When Winnie came to see us at Fleta's house this last year, Fleta went all out and boiled a pot roast....yes, boiled a pot roast...When she first pulled it out of the freezer about 2 hours before we wanted to eat I told her it needed to thaw first...She said it did not need to as she threw it into a pot of boiling water on top of the stove.....she was right it would not have tasted any different if she had thawed it first..

Now I know Fleta could cook if she wanted to. I have long since decided she does not cook because eating is not as important to her as it is all of the rest of us Powells..At Fleta's house you will hear great stories...see a gentiler side of her when the Grand Kids are around, you can feel very comfortable putting your feet up on the couch, but don't expect to be fed good....it won't happen there....If visiting Fleta, go to Clayton's to eat... Come to see me and we will eat!!!

Reading...

I had been waiting on this book from the library, then once it came in I also got three other books. I read the other ones, Bobby & Jackie, The Time Of My Life, and No Time to Wave Goodbye...I saved this one to read last. As it turned out this was the only one fit to read. It was due back Saturday and I kept it over because I had not finished it. I finished it this morning. It is really a good book and I may have to buy a copy of it. I buy very few books but this one is worth reading again and again...I have to drop it off today and I am sure there are MANY people on the list to get it. I feel a little guilty about not getting it back on time. I have learned more about Teddy Kennedy since his death than I ever knew when he was alive...such a shame I was so ignorant.

Sisters, it is just the best book!
BTW I have heard Sarah Pailin's new book does not have an index...I figure there are two reasons for that, first since I have heard it is mainly fiction it does not need an index, secondly I doubt in all of their VAST reading of EVERYTHING she knew a Biography usually included and index.....
