Email from Sis....

I got an email from Fleta a few hours ago she said...
Pat called on Janet's cell phone to tell me her house phone is not working so she will not be posting for awhile...

I saw that pile of books she picked up from the library and I know she is just in bed reading....she may even have the phone off the hook....Maybe that is why it is not working...

The Girl and I have had a busy day. We went to church with Missy, Benjamin, and Austin. Then Missy took us to the mall to pick out a couple of Christmas Angels, one was for Kenzie's teacher. We got a little boy a bike and put her teacher's name on the tax deduction card and wrote him a sappy note...I used to do this all of the time for my kids teachers....

Billy's 3rd grade teacher Ms. Simpson told her class one year, ...'If you are going to buy me a present please just put some money in the Salvation Army's red pot or get a gift for a Christmas Angel instead.' I started doing that for the kids teachers after that....After all what can you buy for a teacher that they really want...I am sure they are like me and if they want something they own it....I'll bet Betty has a pile of crap over the 37 years she has been teaching...

Although I do remember Billy's 4th grade Teacher Mr. Saint Marie ( a really young teacher)commented on my Mombo Oakley's sun glasses on meet the teacher night....this was back in the 80's when Oakley sun glasses were all of the rage and quiet pricey... I thought at the time ..'play your cards right and you will own a pair of these...' I got him a pair for Christmas...It was one of the best investments I ever made...

Bill was a little trouble when he was in school and I remember in the 6th grade all of the 6th graders get to go on a three day field trip ....camping... and it was in Payson on someplace like that...Bill had mis behaved and he was the only kid in the 6th grade that was not going to get to go....Now he had not done anything really bad like set the school on fire, he just would not finished all of his work on time....same as it had been for the past 6 years...Well you can imagine how that went over with me so I was set to go to the Principal and set it up that I would go along and keep Bill in line... Then Mr. Saint Marie went to the Principal and told him if he would let Bill go he would be personally responsible for him...Bill got to go and I did not get any bad reports....Those sun glasses paid off....

Sisters....

It is so cold here today....The sun is shining and it is 55 .....I wore my big fur coat to church today...All of the Grand kids liked it...I told them Grandpa killed a bear so I could make it....I figured you all would really appreciate this post since you all are huddled under blankets....

A post ForCousin Winnie...

My Grand Boy, Austin had his Birthday party yesterday...That is his Mama in the upper right hand corner... He had a Great Birthday..He will be 7 on the 15th..

I always tell My Grand Kids stories about when I was a kid....Two weeks Austin was complaining about having to share one bathroom with his Dad and Kimmie in their house up north..So I told Austin the 'Out house story.'

This is how we were so poor we did not have running water and we had what was called an out house...I then had to explain what an out house was and how Daddy built it...I went into great details...All was true....

I told him how sometimes there would be a snake in the hole or one of Clayton's setting hens so I would be afraid to go in there..On and on...

Austin's eyes were getting bigger and bigger..

Then I got to the part about the 'Sears and Roebuck's' catalogue....Which I had to explain what that was and how we used it for toilet paper..He could not believe all of this..

Well, this week I went into Mikes large walk in closet where we keep all of the extra toilet paper. There were 6 rolls left in the large Northern bag . I checked Mike's Bathroom and he still had 3 rolls stacked up in the corner, where he keeps his spares...I keep 3 extra rolls in each of the other two bathrooms...In Kenzie's bath I keep them in the bottom drawer ans in my bath I keep them on the bottom shelf in the bathroom closet...We were out of spares in each of the two Baths..

So I grabbed the large TP bag and went walking through Mike's bedroom. Of course Mike noticed I was taking all of the TP..He is very TIGHT!!! He said, "is that the last of the TP?' I told him yes and he said, "well, we are going..." I cut him off right there and said 'Don't even try to go there!' walked out, closed the door and left him talking, now to himself...

Mike buys, reads, and collects, thousands of trashy romance novels and the brown cheap paper would have made good TP when I was a kid..I thought if he persists on this 'using to much TP kick' I will get one of his Nora Roberts books and tear a few pages out and lay it out in the front bathroom which he uses every day as soon as he gets home from work because he can not make it all of the way back to his bathroom..

Then I had to laugh thinking of Austin coming over and seeing those brown pages in the bathroom and him asking, 'Granny, what is this?' If I were to tell him he would say...'I'm talking to Grandpa about this.' And he would be hot footing it to Mike's bedroom clicking those heals down hard with each step he took just like I used to walk....

Now Winnie, I assure you we will have TP in this house longer than we will be buying $5, Nora Roberts romance books at Wal Mart...But it did make me chuckle just thinking about Austin seeing book pages in the Bathroom to wipe with...

TP...One more little thing I am thankful for today...

Dinner Theater

Mackenzie is attending a Christmas Dinner Theater tonight in Phoenix. This is through the Girl Scout troupe. Mikes nephew's wife, Kris, is taking several of the girls in her van. Mackenzie will be riding with her and her Daughter. Grandpa bought Mackenzie a new outfit to wear tonight. You know in WA it is really to cold for a dress or skirt and Kenzie only had one or two and nothing really nice so today he bought her a new skirt, blouse, sweater and a new dress. Now she will have two new outfits for church. Tomorrow she said she is wearing her new dress and her new black sweater. She is the sweetest girl... I am so Blessed...God is so good to me.
