Here Ya Go, Betty..

Betty asked me what were concierge Doctors. Here is what I have been reading on the net.

It seems there has became a growing trend in the profession that certain Doctors are now charging their patients a yearly fee from 1500 to 5 K a year to treat them. The doctors still charge the insurance companies the regular amounts but the doctors are getting a yearly stifle from their patients to keep doctoring them in addition to any other payments.

When a patient pays these extra fees they get ‘special’ care. Often they get to enter through a back door into a luxury waiting room that lower class patients can not enter. These patients are often given the Doctors private cell phone number and of course they are treated first if they are in need of a doctor.

Now these are not the Doctors ‘new‘ patients, just one day you walk into the Doctors office and you are informed he has started this new service and if you want to stay in his care you need to pay the fee.

When I looked up the actual definition on the word and the synonyms for the word it became clearer why I have a problem with Doctors becoming these kinds of Doctors…
It is all over the net for the last month because it is getting more and more popular.

Definition. The Concierge offers a specialized first class service. S/he assists you in organizing your special events or s/he looks after your corporate needs. Bring it on Obama we need to stop this sort of thing....

Free Enterprise...

I have been reading more and more about these concierge Doctors...This is part of an article on MSN today....I have a BIG problem with this practice...

If Doctors want to charge these fees maybe they should be allowed to do this but not to be able to charge these fees and collect the insurance payments to boot...

This is just WRONG on so many levels!

5,000 concierge doctors — and growingAs many as 5,000 doctors nationwide have opted for full or partial concierge practices. Surveys suggest that number could quadruple within the next few years.
The result, critics say, is a segregated system that offers extra access for extra cash, even as it escalates a looming
health care crisis for everyone else. And there’s nothing in the current health reform bills being considered in Congress to stop it.
“These practices exacerbate a fundamental problem in our health care system, which is this health care chasm between the haves and the have-nots,” said, Laura Weil, director of the health advocacy program at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, N.Y., and an analyst of concierge care.

San Diego...

Mackenzie took my camera on her trip. She was afraid to take one along because she thought she might loose it. She did not. I told mine was so old anyway it would not be a great big loss. Kenzie has a much better camera than I do so I would have just used hers till I got a new one if she had lost mine. But she is a responsible girl and got home with everything. Including the extra money she did not spend.

She has some really cool shots and I am not sure where they were all taken at. I have not had time to even talk to her about the trip since she did not get in till 10 last night and then were back up at 7:15 to get ready for school..But I have down loaded the pictures and there are some good ones. I am sure she will always remember this trip...I am so glad she got the chance to go...

The tour guides were a hoot. One of the guides told the kids not to forget anything on the bus, be sure to pick up all of their stuff...But if they did forget something or loose something just look on Ebay and they would be able to find it there.... Even Kenzie got that joke...

Home Sweet Home...

Mike and I made it home....No ill effects..Kenzie is on a bus headed this way. She is supposed to be at school at 10 tonight. I will be there waiting for her. She has had the biggest time.

Mike and I have reached the age and eyesight that we should not be driving at night.

We stopped on the way home and picked up some groceries...We bought one of those rotisserie chickens that all old people eat. That with salad and rolls was supper.

I really would like to give the car a bath but I am not sure I am up to it.

Cheryl gave me a scare on the pumpkin shortage so Saturday Missy was going to Wal Mart and I had her pick me up 6 large cans of Libby's pumpkin. They were 2 something apiece and I doubt I will even get Missy paid for them. She does not like pumpkin pie so I know she will not keep it so I guess I made out very well on that deal..

I really did have a good time and seeing Kenzie having so much was just a blast. She had made 3 nice friends after her spa party and they all roomed together in California. I spoke to her a few minutes ago and I told her I would really be glad when she got home. I said even though we were over there together I really did not get to see her enough and I really have missed her. She said she had missed me too...That was probably said for my benefit but it was nice to hear..

Bill had Austin this weekend and should be bringing him home today I was hoping he would stop by.

I spoke to Missy a few hours ago and her and Benjamin were going to take a nap...

Well my house is pretty clean from Friday so I guess I will go wash the bugs off the car and give it a good vacuuming... No use just sitting here being lazy...

Happy weekend everyone...
