Richard Charley Powell
Today is Brother Richard's Birthday...He would have been 70 years old today. He was a hard working family man. He had worked since he was 14 till the day he died. He could really tell a story and was always good to me. He loved his Family but I think his wife Barbara, was his life.
Daddy and Richard often butted heads but don't you know on the day Richard was born Daddy must have been so proud..
I know I have heard Daddy 100 times tell us girls while we were trying to do something like fix fence around the Farm..."I'd trade all three of you girls for one boy..." He must have thought a lot of Richard or Clayton because those were the only two boys he could compair us with at the time...You know that statement from Daddy never really hurt my feelings...I usually thought...I wish you had a boy too and I would not have to be here doing this...

Biking Quilt...
School...
I went to Val Vista Lakes school this morning...I spoke to MS. Simpson who is still teaching 3rd grade there...She taught Bill in 3rd Grade..She told me which 5th grade teacher to get Mackenzie placed with...I went to see the principal who was busy, as I expected. I wanted to set up an appointment but I had a long chat with her Secretary and we decided a phone call would work just as well. After I get an OK from her to get Mackenzie into this Teacher's class I will be setting up a meeting with him to get any work that they have all ready completed this year. And get a list of anything she will be needing to hit the ground running on 10/26...Since school here started the middle of Aug and Mackenzie started after Labor Day she will be a little behind...Not even taking into consideration Mackenzie is in a 'Failing 'school and VVL has been an 'excelling' school for 5 straight years... This is going to work, Sisters, and be very good for both of us... As you have all said I am crazy over my Grand Kids....
