Side Trip

This morning I had to take my car to be emissioned because the tags are due. I happened to take my camera with me and on the way back home I went by a few old places I had not been to in a few years...This 1st picture is of Ann and Ladell's old house on Gable. They were our next door neighbors and Ladell built this house. He later built a house for us. After The Call's moved the house was bought by the Nassers. They were very good neighbors also but very different from the Calls.
This is a picture of out house on Gable. We bought this house in 86 and sold it in 90. In 89 we had a house fire and burned the top off the house. We still refer to it as the burned house. Dealing with the insurance company was an experience I will never forget. While the fire trucks were at our house an insurance adjuster showed up and talked to me standing in the street. He had a check in his hand for 15K and wanted me to sign off on the house. I did not like that at the time but when I look back on it it makes me so mad I could spit now. This apparently was a tactic commonly used by adjusters. I just wonder how many poor people take the check and sign off. I did not do that. It took us 9 months to settle with the insurance company and it was for more than 10 times their original offer.....Blood suckers, all of them!
Our neighbor about 3 houses down were the Clausers. They had a boy Missy's age. The Mom, Diane was a nice person. She used to be a hair stylists but went back to school to become a para legal for a Divorce Attorney. I remember her telling me she went back to school because she was tired of all of the sad tales her hair customers used to tell her...Then she would laugh because working for a divorce attorney she heard some really sad tales.... I also remember one day several of us women were sitting around talking about when our kids were young, they were all about teenagers at that time. The subject came up about how old each kid was before they slept through the night. Diane said she did not know how old her son was when he slept through the night but he was 6 weeks old when she slept through the night. I think she had the right idea about mothering...
This used to be a big open field where the kids would push their dirt bikes down to and ride for hours. Now it is just a hill trying to drown out the freeway noise...Once Kris took her dirt bike over a little mound in this field and spilled head over tea kettle....It is a wonder she did not break her neck. She would not ride again for quiet a while.

Austin...

We had the boy overnight....Bettina made a trip to the hospital but was sent back home today....She is set to have the baby Sister Thursday if not before...
This picture was taken in August but Austin is missing two teeth now and he says five more are loose....I am not sure about the fact of that last statement.....But at $2.00 a tooth he is counting up the money...
We were planning on picking up a Pizza for supper but now I will have peanut butter and celery...
Austin and Grandpa went shopping today so Austin took home a sack of stuff..Did you know Wal Mart had a dollar isle...I did not know this but Austin did...He also had a toy for $10.00....I was not surprised at that.
We thought he might get to spend tonight also so we discussed his bed time. Austin told me his bedtime was now 8:00 since he was in second grade. He said, "So Granny, you will have to take your pill later tonight." I have always told him 7:30 is the time I need to take my pill to try to get him to bed. He really would like to stay up late at my house.
Well, I'll have him back in a few days anyway..

Back From the Dr's

Today when I looked at my blood results my HGB is up to 10.5 and my HCT is for the first time ever in the normal Range...Just barely normal 35.1 and the range is 35-48 but it is higher than it has ever been since I have been sick. Just 3 weeks ago it was 22. I have been taking iron pills and they are helping...I have taken them before but it did not do any good while I was on Chemo...So Yippie, Skippie...

I just finished reading The Last Lion written by a team at the Boston Globe. I thought it was a pretty good book. I am ready for Teddy's book to be released...When I checked it has been released...I am now on the waiting list after 40 people.

Friday 9/11

It is a nice morning here the temp is 86. My tree only has a few blooms on it. I have a Doctors appointment and treatment today. I have read all of the news on the computer and checked out all of my blogs. I guess I need to take a shower and get ready for my day...

I ask myself,

Where is all of this going to end? I do not like where it is all going...
I was appalled last night while listening to President Obama’s speech on healthcare that Republican Representative Joe Wilson from South Carolina, yelled out ‘You Lie!’

I tried to get on Wilson’s web site to leave a comment and his site was down….Too many
hits on it they said….Finally I was able to get on to send a comment to him and it said that explicit language will not be tolerated…I’m not sure what that meant on his site but I’ll bet I could have used the “N” word and that would have been OK.

I can not believe all of the racism that I have seen pop up in the last couple of weeks..
Patsy said she is finding all of this amusing…Me, it is just giving me a head ache and I need to lie down….
