Bedroom

I have always liked to see a nicely made up bed. Last year I made 4 pillow shams out of a very textured blanket (white) at that time I thought I needed something with a little color and a different texture to set off the basically white bed....Since my room is Grey it took me a while to get something I liked. Low and behold when I went to a garage sale a few weeks ago they had this quilt for 2 bucks....It looked almost new and I could see right away it was just one of those commercially made quilts. But the colors were very calming. I knew this was what I had been looking for to make another pair of shams out of.... so a few minutes ago I whacked off the top of the quilt. Re sewed the end so it is still large enough for a throw and used the rest to make 2 pillow shams....I like the look of it...

And these flowers smell wonderful....BTW do you recognize the kid in the very small frame on the corner of my dresser...I do not know who this kid is. He was in the frame when I bought it at Wal mart a few months ago....I thought Fleta might know him....

sad, sad, sad....

It seems like July is almost over. There were a lot of Birthdays in July that I did not mention....Mike was 61 on the 10th...Kris was 33 on the 11th...Gilbert was 48 on the 13th....Mikes Brother Alan will be 57 on the 24th, Daddy would have been 94 on the 25th... My goodness 94 years old that just seems impossible...

It seems like there were more Birthdays this month but I can't remember...Fleta you need to get a calendar ready for next year now....If you will fix one and get it to me on Disk I will take it to Kinkos and get all of us one made up...you can even put the dead people on it I don't care...I am going to post a picture of my calendar this month so you can see why I don't know any one's birthdays....I think we all would enjoy it and I hate to say but I just do not have the brains or skills to make one....

Here is July

And look at August...I do not even bother to write the month on it till I turn over that month....I think we could all use a calendar, Fleta..And I do promise not to make fun of the 140 year old dead people you put on it...Please...

Potato Pancakes...

I know my kids will laugh when they hear I made Potato Pancakes. I am sure they have never heard of them. I have never mentioned them before......But the other day when I made too many mashed potatoes I thought at the time I am going to make some potato pancakes out of those..My Mama would make potato pancakes when I was a girl. I never helped Mom cook so I was not quiet sure how she made them....I took the leftover mashed potatoes..(That part is correct)...added an egg and some flour....mixed well and fried in a skillet with a little oil.....mama may have used some corn meal to roll them in I do not remember. I do not even remember liking them really well but I thought....once before I die...We ate them for dinner and supper and probably with beans like we ate everything....So sisters what did I leave out???

So many things I could do....

But I am so lazy!

I have been reading about people's dogs and cats on their blogs. I figure no better than I would take care of one I would have PETA knocking on my door any minute. Last weekend Bill brought down his little dog and when I got out of bed and walked through the living room to make my morning coffee in the Kitchen... I saw the dog outside the glass door and he cowed down....Guess he had met me before...

There is big talk about city people keeping chickens to off set the cost of buying eggs...They said ( on an MSN article yesterday) you can buy a chicken for 6 bucks...a chick that is, and in 6 months it will start laying eggs and it will lay eggs for 10 years...I can buy a chick for a lot less than 6 bucks....and it lays eggs before 6 months of age...and I'll be damn if it lays for 10 years...I think someone wanted city folks to pay 6 bucks for a chick...

Then everyone and their dogs are growing gardens right now....Well that is just too hot to do...Even if I was in Arkansas, July is just too hot to be out working in a garden..So I am not about to do that either...

Shoot, I left the house at 5 this morning to get shopping done before it got too hot....and that library not opening till 10 really spoiled my day... Do they not realize they need to have those doors open at least by 8, and I think that is late!

Well, I have some books so I think I will act like Pat and go lay down and read....I am sure that is why she has not blogged this morning, she is reading!

Early Start...

I had some things I needed to do today so I got an early start hoping to get home before it got too hot...I have everything finished now and it is almost 11 and it is 101...All Ready!
