The youngest grand kid..

 Turned 16 today. I can tell he is getting more mature. 16 Today. We went the big M  for lunch then he went to school half a day. He has had a girlfriend for about a week. She went to in n out burger with us. She is a freshman and does not have a cell. I love it. After we ate she had to call her dad and asked if she came over here for about 30 min. He is very strict and told Kimmy he does not want them alone.. no problem my son has done it all, for 30 minutes they sat in the couch bill had cameras in the house. Bill , Kim ,and I watched them on the camera. Bill made sure that Seth sit all he way straight. Keep one of the dogs on the couch between then.

When I was a kid my dad said.. anything you can think of to do, I have allready done. Guess Bill thinks the same thing. And I’m sure he did.

Les has a 4 year scholarship to the college in Flag… away from home but not to far.  She is so pretty. Her complexion is beautiful. She is so creative and smart. Seth is very smart also. He just needs a little …kick on his butt. He helps bill-in the shop and does not complain nearly like he used to. 

I have a bed mate. I do like this dog . She is old like me.

 I think not. I was there at 10:30 PM.  By morning I was almost to Gallop.

Had a safe trip made it fine.

So today

 I tipsy tervied a big log into the weeds in the field. Drug a large tub of soil and dumped it into the hole by the water valve outside.

I used a regular machine to finish a rainbow on a pillow case for wrenley. I’m pretty tired and out of breath.

I read my machine manual Fleta printed for me. I found out a few things I did not know how to do.

I’m going to sew a little later.  I’m going to try to finish 2 pillow cases for wrenley. They are satin and trust me she needs them to sleep on for her hair.

I am hungry. I guess I need to cook something.

Another

 Beautiful day. I worked outside a bit today. I cleaned out one of my long vegetable containers and found about a dozen onion bulbs. They were still firm and about the size of golf balls so I replanted them. 

Fleta drug the large log out of my yard using Robert’s pick up. It had fallen from pattys tree. Her big tree is in pretty bad condition.  I just hope it out lasts me. 

I have my other bedroom window air conditioner on the back porch. I was feeling pretty strong today and had no problem lifting it.  Eliseo and Robert said they will get the one out of the living room window tonight and put it in the shed for me. I hope they do because I barely have it balanced, ready for them to get it out. 

I have no pics to post today. My ones I posted yesterday are beautiful.

Not much happening today

 But I do have great pictures.

These are friendly taken this weekend. Her little cousin got baptized. I think what he was. It was something like that and you could see one of the pictures she’s holding her hand. Wrenley is doing great with her potty training. She wears big girl panties. I told her granny was coming to see her and I had lots of potty toys but I guess we don’t need potty toys anymore cause we go potty all the time in the big girls potty and so I guess she’ll just get to open them like presents. She thought that was a fun idea.

The weather‘s been wonderful here. I’m so thankful.

 Eternal!  Jorge said I should have my car by Monday! Oh I hope it’s fixed!

Tonight Kenzie is hosting her family meal. I hope they all show up. 

Fleta is off work tomorrow. She has to go to the eye doctor. She is going to take me to the bank to get cash out for payment on my car. 

I tripped and fell hard in the kitchen today. I am putting it on the blog so I can remember what day it happened. It’s a wonder I did not knock a hole in the floor. I hit really hard. 

It did not rain today. It has been sprinkling at least for several days. 

September 24th

 It should be a national holiday. It was the day Clayton was born. 

Clayton was special to me and I think to most of us kids. But I’m only going to speak for me. 

He was 10 years older than me and he drove our bus for 3 or 4 years while he was in high-school. That was a perk to me because I was the baby for a long time and I was very spoiled. I thought it was great Clayton drove me to school.

Clayton was also somewhat popular. He played high school basketball when basketball ment EVERY THING to Green Forest Hi. 

All of my class mates knew Clayton and thought he was so good looking. Really it was his personality and charm that made him so attractive. He always knew just what to say to people to win them over. 

His senior year he had pictures of all of the pretty girls in his wallet. There was one picture of a SR girl laying on her bed on her side with the biggest valentine box of candy I had ever seen. Holding it in front of her. I don’t think she had anything else on but I’m not for sure. She wrote something mushy on it. I don’t remember what. I’m sure I was not to be looking in his wallet. 

Clayton had a letterman jacket with his bb letter on it. We did not have money to buy one but someone donated it to him. I’m not sure who it was but I have a good guess. He was very proud of it . all of the players had one.

The school bus he drove was a van. He would even drive it back to town for ball games. I imagine that was against the rules but I’m sure the coach. Principal, and  superintendent even knew he did it. It would not be allowed these days but he did have a way about him   I’m sure all of the teachers liked him.

After we both got older and he moved back to GF we sisters could call on him and he was always there to help.

He passed away doing what he loved… sitting in his recliner watching sports.. we girls laugh about that because so many people say that about a race car driver that died while driving. Or a sky diver that had a mishap and died. Maybe a pilot that died flying a plane. But not brother. He was just relaxing July 2, 2014 watching a ball game.

Sister Patsy said,

when Clayton died it just took all of the joy from her life. I think we all felt a little like that.

Ahhh a great day

 For cornbread and beans! They were so good.

Other than making the bed showers ,2, putting on make up fixing my hair and getting dressed. I did very little else. But it was so amazing how much I loved the fat.it rained on and off most of the day. The air was cool and fresh. The pond is almost running over from so much rain in the last week or so. Me running the hose to the pond last week and filling it with city water was not necessary at all. 

I cooked corn bread and beans and they were perfect . Nice and soft and the skins came off most of them. I added jalapeños in the instant pot and cooked them 30 minutes. A whole pound of them. I split the cornbread with Fleta she loves cornbread and milk. 

I made banana bread Sunday and shared with fleta. I put mine in thefrig in Fleta’s freezer bags and I only ate a little. So I walked down to her house minutes ago and dropped them off for her breakfast. I put a hand full of flaxseed in them and some nuts they were good. 

Fleta is having food provided tomorrow at work.

She is so very good to me. I think I depend on her more now than she does me. When the kids were smaller I helped more but not so much now.

I called Kelly today and told him my quilt top was done. I still have to get batting. Tack it together and then sew the edges. It’s going to be super warm.  I always love to talk to Him. It’s always a laugh a minute. So reminds me of my 3 brothers. I miss so much.

Hope to get a car this week fingers crossed!

My knees are awful. Sister Betty says motion is lotion. So I have been laying on my back and doing bicycling pumps just in the stand that even hurts! Sicko…

I’m going to start minting rocks this winter  I used to be very good at tile painting and I think I can do these. There are a ton on the interned to basically copy from. Something new to do.

Not done much

 Today.

I did the floors and I cut my hair. I had spaghetti for afternoon lunch. 

I think I will sew a cover for my spa chair. I want to make a pillow like thing for my neck. 

Fleta came to see me twice today. The last time she brought me a peach. It was pretty good.

Lex is playing volleyball and Seth is playing football. They are both number 7.Seth is so tall!

 To rain most of the night on and off. 

I finished the top 🔝 f Kelly’s quilt.

I cleaned out under the bathroom sink. I threw out almost everything. I have an entire kitchen bag full of stuff. I then wiped out all drawers and underneath with strong disinfect. I have a big mouse problem. I ordered new poison and have had it out for at least a week. Now I need to clean out the cabinets on the sink side of the kitchen. The other side I did last week. 

Last night I fell asleep watching Hells Kitchen. It apparently played all night. I dreamed I was a waitress. At my current age and health. Thank goodness I woke up at 4AM.

Fleta got home from Betty’s. Betty made 3 baby blankets for my grand girls. They were all beautiful. She is such a good hooker. Much better at it than I am.

I made homemade spaghetti sauce with meat balls. It was very good. I called Eliseo and he came up and got a trey of it.  I also made homemade rolls they were very good. I shared them with Fleta only. I sent frozen French bread with butter and garlic with Eliseo. 

Betty sent me a bag of dress pants to me. Fleta and I went through them Fleta took a few things. 

I have had allergy problems today. I found a box of new allergy pills and I kept them. They were under the sink.

Raining..

 On and off all day today!

Mackenzie had her ceremony last evening for becoming a nurses assistant. This is the first step to her becoming an RN. That is her goal now. She is going to MCC and speak to a counselor for the nursing program to get the next steps in. She graduated with 2 honors. Those are the two gold ropes and the green one is for having allready a job in her field. 

She looks so happy . I am so proud! 

I have all of the blocks seen together for Kelly’s quilt. Now I need to hook the 3 last rows to the bottom of the quilt.

I decided I’m going to be buried in the outfit I wore to JRs wedding. So today I opened my casket and put the pants outfit in there. Oh my casket smells so good! I love cedar. 

I’m going to pick up the material in the back room and tend to it plus I am going to put back up a curtain rod that I knocked down when I took the air conditioner out of the window. This has been on my list of things to do for 3 days now. Today I will get to check them off! Yeah!!!

I have books I made for the grandkids…

 That I tried to write in sometimes. Some days I can hardly read my own writing and this is one of them. I was trying to write in Mackenzie‘s book about when her mama was less than two and Melissa was born and I went to work at an old folks home at night. 

We only had one car, Mike worked days and when he would get home, I would have supper ready. I tried to sleep a little and I would go to work about 10 o’clock at night. After I got the kids to sleep.

It was in the ladies house That she had built on rooms for 10 patients. She was a retired RN and she was a nice lady. She did her best to hire help to look after the people. I’m sure it was so hard to find anyone decent to work there. But I worked nights five days a week And I liked it. I guess I’m getting more and more like those old people because I can hardly write at all now. Some days are worse than others some days. I can’t even read it myself.

I’m much better at telling stories than handwriting them down. I talk on this blog and it types it for me. Sometimes it gets my words confused. Imagine that!  most days I don’t check what I have written. I just keep on going and hope it understands and types it correctly

Sister Fleta took off this morning to Betty‘s. She stopped here and I loaded up a bunch of well, crap,as I would call it we sisters kind of send that back-and-forth. Betty can keep it or she can throw it away the same as I do the stuff she sends to me

I have gotten up and gotten dressed, made my bed at least.  Helped Fleta load the junk I had drug out on my  porch. She’s probably just now arriving at Pottsville. Betty is still at exercise class so I imagine she  is stopping at the store.. she better have  picked her up something to eat. Because eating at Betty jeans is kind of sparse. Betty almost think eating is a sin. But she told me this time she’s gonna cook for her. That will be a change. Betty says that she can’t cook worth anything anymore. I think that just reverts back to her thinking eating makes you fat so you shouldn’t do it. Me I think I’m gonna go fix myself a sandwich. Since all I’ve had today is coffee.

Had a good day. Very relaxing . I just got this pic from Kimmy. She is the best to send me pics. Lex had a dance. Alice in wonderland was the theme. Lex took. On a Mad Hatter costume. From thrifting ans sewing she made this outfit!  She is so creative! guarantee no one looked like her . I just love her free spirit🧵❤️🪄💋 there’s no one like her.. A throw back to the hippy days I say. Just. Like her Granny she would have wanted to hitch hike to Woodstock too!

Rain…

 Yeah we really need it. It rained some yesterday also. Not a lot either time put it smells good and things got a little drink.

Fleta hauled me to town today. No car is beginning to cramp my style. I sent my floor cleaner back to Amazon because the battery in it was not good. A new one was waiting on my porch when we got home. I mailed a bracket back to Rhea that she left here. We picked up a few groceries at Walmart. Groceries, I love that word. Fleta got gas because she’s going to see Sis tomorrow. We went to the junk store, and guess what?  All we found was junk. We bought nothing. But the best thing was I went to check on my car. Not long after I got home he called me and he’s ordered a clutch for it. It will be here Monday I believe he said. 

I did some things around the house. I picked out some things to send to Betty. 

When I went out to burn trash I decided to mow the yard. That pretty much finished my day. The mowing does not make me tired but going to town does. Old age has got ahold of me.

I wore leggens and a black top and was very comfortable but when I was walking into Walmart I saw my reflection in the glass and I think a fat pig could run through my legs I am so now legged. Superficial.

I did get one air conditioner cleaned and stored on the back porch.  At least that was something.

Sisters will just have fun without me tomorrow.This is what they did to me last time.

Today I have been really busy. I decided to make a list each day of things to do and check them off. Done days I will have holdovers but at least I  know what I have done or if I have done nothing!

Jake called me yesterday. He was heading to work. He almost never calls me, being a boy. He is so excited to start his new job Monday. A real grown up job. I am so happy for him!

Still no car. I called yesterday. No response!

But that’s ok. I’ll live!

This afternoon I am going to cut out more quilt blocks. 

I have done almost all things on my list. 

Gotta go. No rest for the wicked!

Today has been better

Me and my oldest friends. That just happen to be my sisters.

I have now sewn 7 rows on Kelly’s quilt. That’s 70 blocks. I have several more blocks cut out but not enough. It will take at least 10 to 12 rows long. there are no dirty dishes  in the sink and very few in the fish washer. Plus the biggie my counters are cleaned. I cleaned the bed linens.  Took out all of the trash and burned it. A job I really dislike

It’s not even 4 o’clock but I have had my bath and supper.

I cleaned out my 3 aero growers that had water still in them. 

I have one air conditioner out of the window but it’s still just in the bedroom floor. I need to bring in the dolly to move it. 

I think I’ll go to the back room where my embroider machine is and put some monograms on some hair towel wraps for the girls. I have been wanting to try it because I bought interfacing that is sticky and peel away. I’m anxious to see how well it works.

Not real dedicated

 To blogging. I have shut off FB and Instagram so maybe that will help. 

I have been feeling much better the last week or so. Mainly because I am getting more than 2 hrs sleep a night.  My energy level is up and I am not taking any naps 

 I do have an asthma problem tho and I need to be using my spa chair to tap my lungs. I should be taking a breathing treatment every day and I am not doing that either.

I have been sewing. I made one quilt and started another one. This one is for Kelly.  I have cleaned out some cobblers because I have mice galore. I have cleaned up the counter tops again. I cleaned out the food pantry. I have been cooking a meal once a day. Straightened up a lot of sewing scraps. Actually I made a baby quilt also. 

My Kris bought me an embroider sewing machine. I love it. I am so proud of it. 

I’m still without a car but I hope it gets fixed soon. It is at J  And R automotive in Berryville. He said he should know something by tomorrow. So I am trying to be patient. I am thankful he is helping me.

JR got married and it was just lovely. I am so happy for the 2 of them. 

Sisters are all doing great. Well we all have pains.

I mopped and vacuumed my floors with an automatic sort of run around thing. It worked great Fleta will make fine of me . Since I have been back here I have bought used vacuumes one or two or seven. 

Tomatoes did not do worth anything this year. I am very discouraged.

Dug potatoes today

 I started off with three dollars of potato seeds. These come in a bag I did not get to pick and choose.. I wanted to try planting them in a laundry basket with holes around it  the above yield,  I got out of the laundry basket. There were several that were rotten. I planted the laundry basket first and used most of my seed potatoes there. I had a few left so I planted them in the ground. I think it was six plants..

These are the ones that I got out of the ground that were planted in an above ground planter the yield was much higher. I also had several rotten ones in the hamper basket. My vines were not dead yet and I dug them a little early, and I Knew that.

Fleta is going down to see Betty on the fourth and I Wanted to send some to her and that’s why I dug them early. The vines were not completely dead. I’m not sure how much bigger the little potatoes would have gotten if I would’ve waited till they were completely dead.

The good news is I dumped all the straw and manure out of the laundry hamper and into that above ground planter. It is fantastic compost. This is where I intend to plant all my strawberry plants this winter so hopefully by next year I will have great strawberry plants.

The only thing I really like out of the garden is fresh tomatoes, and jalapeño peppers. The rest of the stuff I planted was just to see if I could.

Let me tell you I can grow cucumbers. I have cucumbers coming out my ears.

The tree that was leaning over the house

 Is now down in the yard and we didn’t hit anything important. 

The kid that did it for me his name is Justin. He did a great job and I could tell he is a really good kid. He’s just a junior at Greenforest high school and he’s now bigger than a minute. I’ll bet he didn’t weigh 115 pounds maybe But it was all grit. .

I picked up a lot of the limbs  today and loaded them in the tractor bucket and hold them off, but I took the tractor back. I will tackle the bigger things another day at least push them off where I can get all branches.

I am using Betty‘s wagon that she gave me. I pulled it up on the porch. The front porch today. I took all the plants I had out and put in it and tonight I’ll pull it back into the living room and tomorrow I’ll pull it back out. Patsy used to call this. Hardening off the plants. I don’t know. I’ll try anything to get a good tomato. I got all of my aero gardens cleaned up yesterday freshwater in them new vitamins in them and then I apply in my seeds. I think they’re gonna do good again. Hopefully these plants I can put right in the garden And won’t have to try to mess with putting them in cups.

My son Billy called me today. He was real nice to hear from. I have tried to quit calling him bothering the children all the time. I know they have busy lives so if they don’t have time to call me, it’s fine. I’m gonna quit all this fall after I’m in begging to talk to me.

Jr is giving me an older riding lawnmower yippee Skippy. I’m so thankful I love mowing the yard.

I’ve still got half a trailer load of manure out there to unload.

I wish I had the trailer up by my old tomato spot so I wouldn’t have to carry it so far. Then again, I’m sure the exercise won’t hurt me a bit.

When May rolls around, I’m going to start spraying all around the fence row all around the house all around all the rocks around the two outbuildings, the light pole everything like that where I need to weed eat cause I’m not weed eating. I’m gonna use the riding lawnmower and what I can’t get to with it I’m gonna kill

I bought a ham today at Walmart. I had not bought one a long time. I guess it’s about my favorite meat.

Warm

 Today I planted six cabbage plants sewed three packages of reddish’s. I have onion plants, onion sets, and strawberries. I planted a few days ago. I planted one zucchini plant.

My tomato and pepper plants that I started in the light water boxes have done great I’ve got them all in Styrofoam cups after today I’m gonna put them all on my deep freeze under a blue light and I’m gonna clean out my arrow water, things and plant them all three back with more tomatoes I’m gonna plant 12 small bush tomatoes the other one will be early girls, but I don’t guess they’re gonna be too early cause I haven’t even got the seed started yet, but I will tonight.

I planted some Marigold’s here and there to try to help with the bugs. I really need them around my tomato plants.

Betty and Laura came and seen me yesterday. I fixed the salad and angel food cake for us. Fleta wants another angel food cake just for herself to eat. I told her I’d pick up one tomorrow a box and make it for her. She’s going to see Betty I think this weekend Well the weekend before Easter whenever that is I told her if I was her I just stay gone yesterday and hope Laura cooked for me cause I can tell you no one‘s gonna cook for up here.

The care I hired to trim my tree has turned out to be a jewel. We’ve not heard the roof and we’ve not heard the propane tank and he has all the top of the tree down. We right at the fork now he said he’s coming back today to finish, we’ll see he is a really good kid.

Garden

 I planted onion plants,onion sets, and potatoes. In the morning I am planting cabbage plants

Betty and Laura are coming tomorrow.. My Sisters love me so much.

I decorated the graves at Alpena today.
