Been Awhile...

Since I have posted..I doubt if I have been missed much. I never have any great news. No Birds are falling from the sky here.

I did get great news last night Cheryl Ann and Victoria are coming to see me about the middle of March. I am very excited about that. We will have a good time. I just can't wait.

Benjamin got his report card yesterday. He must of had 15-20 grades on it. You know these days you do not just get one grade for reading. Instead they break it all apart so there are about 5 grades dealing with reading. Well, Benjamin got all 2's. The grading system is 1-2-3. Three being exceeds. The last grading period of the year he will have several 3's, wait and see...There are certain things the kids in kindergarten are supposed to learn by the end of the year. One is know all of the letters both upper and lower case, be able to count to 100, know all of their letter phonic sound. Benjamin all ready can do all of these things and the year is not over. But the teachers are no dummies. If they start the kids off with 3's and they end up the year with 3's how does this make them look. It would look like they have taught the kid nothing. Many parents would feel this way so the teacher has to cover her tail so to speak. Don't get me wrong I think 2's are great. I think it 2's reads something like 'meets all requirements' but I have seen this same thing every year from the teachers. It is a shame they have to play all of these games to keep their jobs. You know when you are a teacher you have many bosses...the school board members, the district, your principal, every parent, and if you are not a good teacher some days even your students can boss you around. And look at how much they are paid...

But...I was looking at Benjamin's report card yesterday when he got home and I commented, 'There are a lot of 2's there.' Benjamin quickly said, "Well that is probably because I have been getting a lot of yellows. You see Granny, you start out on green, then if you do something you are not supposed to your card gets turned to blue. Then if you do something again, that would be 2 times, it gets turned to yellow. I must have been getting a lot of yellows and that is why I have a lot of 2's. Now, if you are really, really good you can get your card turned back to green. But you have to be a whole lot better to get it turned back to green than you had to be bad to get it turned to blue."

So, I tried to explain to Benjamin that 2's were like being on green all day. I am not sure he believed me. I did not hear him discuss the report card with his Mom later but I hope I was able to get the point across that 2's were very good. There is no telling. Most of the time if he has it set in his mind, no amount of talking is changing anything.

I have been reading Betty's posts on the DNA. Sister Betty gets very excited about this stuff. Patsy thinks I need to find something else to do besides trying to dote on the Grand kids, wel,l Betty has something to do for sure.

Well we now have a new Speaker of the House. I think after watching him over the years with all of his emotional problems. He and I may have a lot in common.

Siggie came last night with her two sisters. Eric and Laura went for a 2 and a half mile walk. I had cooked Larry his squirrels and biscuits and gravy and eggs and hashbrowns. When they came in...they all grabbed a biscuit. he tried to get them to eat squirrel. Ingrid would not go for it...but Siggie and Astrid tried it. laura said later she found the squirrel 'foot' in Siggie's pocket! I think she meant the little front leg as I did cook any feet!
