Happy Birthday, Momma

Today is Momma's birthday. She would be 94 today.  The other day when I walked to Morris's and came out there by the well house it reminded me when Mom, Debby, Gilbert, and I would get water there. Betty had all ready left home. Usually we carried the water but for some reason we sometimes went to Lois's to get water. We hauled it in a cream can. I filled it in the back of the truck. Maybe it was  summer and the spring was not running much...But we would sometimes drive down there and load water. We went to that little well house looking thing. Lois called it the spring house. We did not use a hose. There was a cement container in that house and I dipped a bucket in it. Lois always stood out there and talked to Mom. Mom drove us down there.

Here is the last page of a letter Mom sent to me when I lived in AZ. This was when Tony worked on the turkey farm. I think he worked for Newberrys.  He came over here and ate lunch almost every day. Daddy was retired and he and Mom really loved him coming over.  They looked for him every day around noon they began the count down on how many minutes before he arrived. We all loved Tony but he was one of Mom's favorites. Tony was so good to Mom and dad.
If she was alive today she would have gotten a beautiful card from every one of us....She loved the cards. It did not matter what they said but they had to be pretty.. Remember?

Some momma's are still around at 94 but it is not in our genetics. Lois was a good neighbor. Remember her sugar cookies?
