0N SECOND THOUGHT...

maybe I was not so ready for the rain......

This camper has a hole in the roof that an antenna fits in.....BUT the antenna is still laying flat on my roof and the hole is about the size of a silver dollar. Water was dropping on the ceiling. I thought of it pretty quick and I jammed aluminum foil up in the hole to the roof of the camper. It is about 4 inches above the ceiling but I used a broom handle...Hopefully it will help.

Then I had both doors propped open and just the screen doors shut. When my awning riped off while back it pulled the gutter away from the camper exposing about 8" covering the door soon water started pouring down the screen door and into my front room. I was sitting here and noticed it right away I had the front door propped open so I went out on the porch in the down pour and grabbed the door and shut it.

Then I went to the back room, by my bed to check there. No it was fine there was no water coming in at all. I left it open because I love the cool air. I continued to sit here searching the net. Finally I realized the wind had really picked up.....Sure enough, the rain was coming in the back door, which I also had propped open. I dashed (do you really believe that at my size) outside  removed the prop and closed the back door. the comforter was wet, the sheets were wet, and the miracle foam 6" mattress pad was a little wet....All of it only on the corner of the bed. So after I closed the door I had to tear the bed all apart. The sheets were clean so I now have draped the corner over the fan and one sheet is dry....

Boy there's more to living in AR than just peeing outside!

I knew it ! Haha,,, during a pause in the rain I pushed the trunk I have on the porch and put a heavy flat bowl over the pipe on the roof which did stick up about an inch...that was good news so the only water that got in was what fell straight in....then I thought even tho the bowl was heavy it might blow off in hard winds so I threw the old wet outside rug over it...The more it rains the heavier it will get So Betty unless the rug 14"X 16" gets so heavy it crashes the roof in I am set....and my house is all ready put back together....be happy....as Robert said we are comfortable here....

Larry said growing up they lived in several places where they had to sit things around when it rained to catch the water dripping. At least our little gray house was dry. After the house caught on fire, i was afraid of storms (just right after now a lot of years after) and Daddy would get up and hang a big quilt on the window if it stormed.

Greta was trying to hula hoop. I remember us wanting one and he made us a hula hoop out of black pipe, He whittled a stob of wood and fitted it into both holes making the loop. It worked really well. Do you remember this?

No Betty I do not...I remember him getting me to sleep at nights on the red couch and telling me nursey rhymes....I remember riding in the cars and trucks with him standing behind his right sholder...I remember sitting outside on the front porch on the cement facing Dans..never in a chair....I remember him playing tag and hide and seek by the tall porch light shining in the yard in late evenings...I remember him watching for shooting stars. I remember a good safe childhood and yes I remember there not being a lot to eat and I used to worry some about that. But still it was the best time of my life....But if Mamma and Daddy were still here and not sick...This would definately beat then..I am never leaving this place again...
